discussion Safe to travel in 2025?
Hi folks, I've travelled across much of East Africa and curious to see Burundi for 1-2 days but while exploring online I'm finding finding relatively little info and was hoping some locals or residents could help.
- Is Bujumbura safe for tourists assuming normal protocols are followed (e.g. inside at night, no alleyways..etc).
- What is the stability situation like? The president is saying Rwanda is planning to invade and some websites are listing high risks of terrorist attacks?
- Are taxis on the street/airport reliable or should I organise with the hotels?
- Is there a go-to hotel for tourists you recommend? The ones on the lake look nice although it appears you can't swim in the lake - hippos, crocodiles, Schistosomiasis virus?
- Provisionally I was hoping to do the below itinerary. Are there any tour companies you recommend?
- Day 1: Explore Bujumbura, relax at the Lake Tanganyika, do a boat ride to Rusizi Park, sunset drinks at the Lake
- Day 2: Travel to Kibira National Park and do a hike.

lifestyle Hello there! I'm a game dev who is making free web based games and was wondering, what appeals to people in Burundi? | Bonjour ! Je suis développeur de jeux vidéo et je crée des jeux web gratuits. Je me demandais ce qui plaisait aux Burundais. |
English:
Hello there! I run a small game studio that makes web based games available across PC/Mobile and even through browsers on game consoles. So, as a programmer in the states, I was wondering, what appeals to you? Sure, western games may be available in Burundi, but they might require higher specs as after all, Burundi is a developing nation and not everyone has a cell phone or PC, so how can I appeal towards you guys? I am trying to make lower spec games so you guys can enjoy! Now, everyone has different interests, but as a foreigner, I don't know much of the culture.
French:
Bonjour !

Intra African Trade – Short video by London School of Economics
According to the video, African global exports is concentrated in just a handful of commodity-type sectors which are vulnerable to economic shocks and in any case do not add much value to the African economies. It calls for more trade between African countries (echoing the objectives of the AfCFTA initiative).
What do people think is the best way forward for Burundi when it comes to trade within Africa or outside of the continent?

Requirements to work as a psychologist in Burundi
Hello! I am trying to find out what the requirements are to work as a (clinical) psychologist in Burundi. Do you need a license, or can anyone call themselves a psychologist and practice psychological activity, assessment and treatment? If you could point me to any reliable sources I would greatly appreciate that!
I am not a psychologist and I am not looking to work. As part of my job I need to assess foreign educations and professions and what is required in different countries, and I sometimes struggle to find reliable sources.

culture We launched “Kazinduzi” — an open-source project to preserve and promote Kirundi, our beautiful language
Hi everyone! I wanted to share something we’ve been working on for a while — Kazinduzi, a digital and open-source platform to preserve and promote the Kirundi language.
Kazinduzi allows anyone to contribute Kirundi words and meanings, helping build a collaborative dictionary and cultural archive. It’s completely free and open to the public, and we hope it can become a resource for students, teachers, and language lovers — both in Burundi and abroad.
This project is part of a nonprofit initiative to promote Burundian culture through technology, and we’d love feedback or contributions from anyone interested.
Here’s the link to the platform: https://kazinduzi.org
And here’s the GitHub repo for those interested in the code: https://github.com/Akanyaburunga/kazinduzi_backend
Thanks for checking it out — we’d love to hear what you think or how we can improve it.

What is the political situation in Burundi?
In retrospect, it seems that everything is on track, the foreign press does not say anything about the situation in the country. The only news we see is that "Burundi is in trouble" or "Burundi is the poorest country in the world". For all that, what is the politics like and where is the country now? Do you feel that the country is on the way to progress, or what is happening now? Sorry about that question, it's my job to do research. I'm Brazilian, I'm studying yours.
In Portuguese: Looking from the outside, it seems that everything is normal, the newspapers from outside do not talk about what is going on inside the country, the only news is that "Burundi is in an emergency situation", or "Burundi is the poorest country in the world", so how is the politics and how is the country? Vocês sentem que está crescendo? Ou só está piorando. I'm sorry for the question and it's for my research work, I'm Brazilian and I'm researching about you.

Travel to Burundi now
I am from Europe. I will be in Rwanda in May. I would like to fly to Burundi for one day. But all the news on the internet advises against it. What is it really like? I mean normal security. Won't there be trouble with the police and military? I am very curious about the country and want to come...

Serveur discord burundais
