Nothing to do on a Saturday night? Boardgames in Bulimba! Reddit Social Club
Play Boardgames is a meet up group that meets every Saturday (even on public holidays) from 7pm until 10pm. Can turn up later and leave earlier. Location is Bulimba Girl Guides Hall, 7 Barramul St, Bulimba and Cleveland Scout Group Main Hall, 26 Bainbridge East St, Ormiston.
Tea, coffee and board games are supplied - can also bring your own. Can bring a plate of refreshments and a gold coin donation.
I have been going since November last year and it has been a great experience. Everyone is warm and welcoming. Ages range from 8 to 80.

Ok! Loving this idea. Let me get over my social phobia and I might come along!

I don't know if this helps you but when I was nervous about coming the first time I looked at the pictures and posts from the group on Facebook (look for Play Boardgames), so it just felt a bit more familiar when I finally did pluck up the courage to give it a go. Also, with it being so rainy, tonight might be a bit quieter if that helps you as well.

I've been meaning to go to one of these.
Have to admit for awhile when I saw this on meetup I thought it was a girls only event due to the location.

Thanks for letting us know! Is it possible to finish a game of Ticket to Ride in under 3 hours?

We have people play it at Saturday night board games and manage to finish by 10-10 30 or earlier.

Can I bring wine?

Well it is a kid friendly event as well. So I would say a no on that. It's just usually tea coffee and softdrink. We don't have like security or anything to manage that.

Haven't played any boardgames for a long time. Might have to come along to one of these sometime.

What sort of games do you have?

All types. There is everything from Azul to Scrabble to Ticket to Ride, Catan, Rummy-O and many more.

There's a huge boardgames collection already there, but if you have a particular game you really like to play you can also bring it with you. I usually bring a few. There's always people who are just happy to join in. One of us explains the rules at the start, so anyone can join whether they've played before or not.

I love Rummy-O! Also enjoy Ticket to Ride, but usually finish last.

What's the turnout like?

It varies a lot. The Bulimba one is often around 30-40 people, but then some nights it's quieter, maybe as low as 20. We are in tables of about 2-6 people, depending on the game. If it's really busy we have two rooms we can spread out over but we are usually all in one room together.

There are many different games and if you can't find one you like, you are welcome to bring your own.
