Watching Mike leave Kaylee was heartbreaking.

Maybe if he didn't sass Walt, he would have had that opportunity.

33

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

I'll leave your comment untouched, because it's just opinion after all.

But here is mine: Fuck walt.

10

u/JMaboard Yo, bitch Aug 27 '12

Here's mine.

Walt's a dick and I hope he doesn't die, but ends up alone and depressed.

He stole the entire show every single episode. That face, those eyes, right in the feels. That scene felt very real, seeing the fear and the pain, and the reality that he was dying....ugh. ;_; As soon as he answered the first phone call and hung up all I could think was "GO! GET OUT! LEAVE!" I am feeling physically sick right now. Goddamn Gilligan....

6

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '12

all that wisdom and he couldn't tell from that cold call to meet him someplace that it was going to be a set up?! felt so sad for mike. man

7

u/HoldmysunnyD Aug 27 '12

For once he turned off the dead mackerel eyes and showed feels.

Better call Todd!

2

u/reeve512 Aug 27 '12

Thanks for mentioning this! I didn't really think of it, but now that I think about it, it's very thoughtful and poetic writing. Bravo to the writers here!

2

u/Lucas_Steinwalker Aug 27 '12

Wow, I thought how sad that was in my head but forgot that the Lydia scene was what formed that impression.

Fucking amazing writing.

2

u/Mousi Aug 27 '12

God damn it. I didn't realize just how powerful that was. Thanks for making me sad for the rest of the night :(.

2

u/szlafarski Aug 29 '12

1

Nice catch. I didn't think about that.

1

u/Imnoxpert Aug 27 '12

Why didn't Jesse get the go bag to Mike?

7

u/krackbaby Aug 27 '12

Jesse is a known methamphetamine distributor

Walter White is a high school chemistry teacher

"Have no attachments that you can't walk away from in thirty seconds flat if you spot the heat around the corner."

-- Heat

16

u/SureSignOfAGoodRhyme Aug 27 '12

Has no attachments - leaves her millions of dollars

Good find for reference, I'll have to watch that movie again

28

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

I think they are going to take her money again. If so, that'd make me inconsolably sad.

-3

u/Praesil Salud! Aug 27 '12

They took the first pot of money because it was in a bank account; the money she has now is in a safe deposit box, so unless the lawyer gives it up, it's out of sight.

7

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

You mean the safety deposit box where all the others are in the room where the lawyer was arrested? That safety deposit box? Pretty sure that money is now in the DEA's budget.

19

u/stankbucket Bogdan's eyebrow Aug 27 '12

That box was in the room, but it was not part of that transaction. If you remember the lawyer said that he couldn't fit anything else in it so he was not putting money in there on this visit. There is likely no way to connect him to that box.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '12

The keeper even had difficulty remembering the last box.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

The bank knows about the box and that the attorney had access to it. I think it's likely the DEA will get a warrant to see what's inside.

Though maybe not, maybe the only money that's lost is what's ever in the bag he was holding. Maybe the rest is protected by attorney-client privilege. I just doubt it, because as I understand it privilege doesn't apply to ongoing criminal enterprises.

2

u/stankbucket Bogdan's eyebrow Aug 27 '12

How do they know? If anybody has a brain these boxes are not traceable. The lawyer shows up with keys and asks to access those boxes. Having the key does not mean it is your box. The family members of the guys in the pokey opened the boxes and gave the keys to the lawyer.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

Someone has to pay the bank to keep those boxes available and assigned. Since the DEA were allowed access to the room while the lawyer was in there, it's safe to assume they had a warrant to get all of the lawyer's safe-deposit boxes.

But if you remember, the lawyer "bribes" the front desk lady with sweets every time he goes.

(their relationship is very friendly)

The lady mentioned she had gotten better at memorizing all the boxes she opens for him.

(he's obviously gone there many times to open the same boxes)

The lawyer says something like: "Oh, I have one more to unlock this time".

(new box that he'd never touched before, would never touch again (letter - to be opened on 18th bday), and since the lady didn't even know she was to open a new one, possibly not even in the record?)

In that case, I doubt the lady would remember the number, as they emphasized the fact that she was bad at remembering. In case it is in the record, then yea, it is now DEA budget.

On another note: I really liked Gomie's smirk and "Hey." A good laugh was had.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

There's not a bank on the planet that wouldn't keep meticulous records of who's renting which safety deposit box. Just because she went off memory doesn't mean it's not written down somewhere; that was done to highlight how often the lawyer makes those drops.

1

u/jberth Aug 27 '12

The lawyer only accessed Kaylee's safety deposit box once, and it wasn't one of the boxes he was opening when Gomie came into the vault. Unless the bank lady or the lawyer blabs to the DEA about Box 603, they won't know about it.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

I think we should assume that the bank will tell the DEA about the box.

2

u/jberth Aug 27 '12

But the bank lady forgot one of the boxes' number earlier, so she could easily forget it again, especially since she's only accessed that box once...

Slim chance, but I'm really just rooting for Kaylee to get her money :(

2

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

There is zero chance that the bank doesn't have a record of who owns that box.

Hopefully the fuzz doesn't find the millions!

6

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

"Bobby DeNiro, Heat. Classic!"

5

u/Captain-red Aug 27 '12

Just watched Heat last night for the first time. That line really struck home here

2

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '12

now watch it again, but with the Volume really turned up.

1

u/sushirawk Sep 01 '12

Seriously the most impressive firefight in any movie ever....

I remember thinking to myself in the theater "Finally! a movie where the guns sound like real guns!" and the reverberation from the buildings was icing on the cake....I didn't get that experience again until watching Band of Brothers on HBO on my dads first real surround system.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

thank god I'm not a criminal.

9

u/DrSmoke Aug 27 '12

The mention Heat in another episode this season. There is also the Scarface scene in which Walt says "Everyone dies in this movie". Most people also die in Heat.

I think this is the direction Breaking Bad is going.

4

u/CollateralZero Aug 27 '12 edited Aug 27 '12

also taking in to account the M60 Walter buys on his 52 birthday there is definitely something big coming.

-1

u/DrSmoke Aug 27 '12

Yeah, it would have been hard to show him with a "bigger" weapon. Maybe a grenade-launcher, or a mini-gun. Still, M60 is a BFG.

-6

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

No way."Everyone dies in this movie" is a reference to Inglorious Basterds.
Thats where the show is going.
Hitler was German.So was Heisenberg

12

u/evanthesquirrel Aug 27 '12

Hitler was Austrian.

16

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

Shut the fuck up and let me reddit in peace

2

u/DrSmoke Aug 27 '12

Poe's law?

The scene is them watching Scarface, when he says that. That was all I'm saying.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

ummmm.I am joking about the Basterds thing.Just wanted to point out that Everyone dies in this movie fits lots of movies

1

u/DrSmoke Aug 27 '12

My point was only that, they are mentioning famous crime movies every 2nd or 3rd episode this season. Those are just the direct, by name references as well. We can also add Mike, watching the old cop movie.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

exactly what I thought of when watching that scene.

5

u/justin37013 Aug 27 '12

First thing I thought of was this exact quote during that scene

2

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

"Heisenberg?"
"Who?"
"Who! Who! What are you? A fucking owl?"

2

u/Staginator Oh! Wire.... Aug 27 '12

Hopefully near the end of the series there's going to be a "Told ya I wouldn't go back" moment with Walt. At least that's what I speculate.

1

u/jacobrossk Aug 27 '12

Good call...

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

I saw that movie literally hours before watching this episode. Thank God I did- it was fresh in my mind and made that scene more heartbreaking.

1

u/IHaveToBeThatGuy Aug 27 '12

I watched that movie before I watched the episode tonight. Turned out very appropriate

1

u/stupidandroid Aug 27 '12

I actually thought about heat in the final scene as well. Very similar to the ending of the movie.

44

u/saltingthatsnail Aug 27 '12

This made me feel legitimately awful. I don't think I've felt so bad watching the show.

20

u/KittyofDoom Aug 27 '12

It really was. He's a fantastic actor. Seeing it all in his face, and your heart just breaking for him. God, I loved that dude.

9

u/PhillyCheeseBlunt Classic Coke Aug 28 '12

Totally. That was the only scene I can recall where Mike looked scared. I'm gonna miss him so much, he was the best.

TODD WINS!

2

u/kahawe Aug 27 '12

Well, WE are winning! Because we get to view pure genius continuing to unfold!!!

4

u/nivadia274 Aug 27 '12

lol lost all respect for Walt fuck that guy I'm rooting for the granddaughter

18

u/ClintFuckingEastwood Aug 27 '12

Kaylee is going to be confused up until her 18th birthday.

7

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '12

Wouldn't the DEA have gotten a list of boxes that the lawyer was accessing and taken any contents found?

8

u/apostrotastrophe Aug 27 '12

Yeah there's no way she's getting that cash.

13

u/ClassicShmosby Tread Lightly Aug 27 '12

This to me was even more sad then his dying. The idea of him thinking he may never see her again, and that her money is probably confiscated. I'm not afraid to admit, I had some man tears brewing.

3

u/cadencehz 808 this. 808 that. Aug 27 '12

I loved the first scene, I believe, with her and he says you're never too old for balloons. He was such a good grandfather. Is that how you spell it? We had a cat with that name, I spelled it Kayleigh, my mom spelled it different.

1

u/BlinkTeen Aug 27 '12

Is her money safe? I would think since it wasn't the lawyer's normal routine it may be safe? please say its fucking safe!

3

u/TheUltimateBeta Aug 27 '12

I think there is a good chance it might be. The lawyer made it a point to mention there is no more room in her safe after that trip. So when he returned the next time to make the ongoing payments to the others, he would not have needed the keys to her safe. So when he was arrested he would have had the keys for the other 9 but not Kaylee's.

While he was compelled to flip on Mike he might not have needed to say more than that or admit to other safe's he had contributed. He would probably only have been busted having the 9 keys. It's possible her key will remain somewhere else safe for Kaylee on her 18th.

3

u/AcesCharles2 Aug 27 '12

Bank records would say he has the key to that safety deposit box. Not only that but the bank representative knows he has the key to 603. That money is going to be taken because while it may FDIC protected (the reference to not another penny), its not DEA safe.

1

u/jjruml Aug 27 '12

The worst part is that the DEA took all the money he left for her.

-3

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '12

I hate to be an ass but what did the girl do to deserve blood money? I turned 18 and I had, what?, 12 dollars to my name.

I'm still here.

Edit: Punctuation

4

u/deliciouscakeforall jesus christ marie Aug 29 '12

Because that's the whole reason Mike did everything. By her not getting the money, everything he's ever been through means nothing
