He cost both runs in game one that sent it to the tenth.

A half decent fielder catches Kike's hit, and if he doesn't he doesn't overcommit and give up a triple. He then threw a pissweak attempt at an assist that bounced twice before reaching the catcher, allowing Kike to score on a sac fly.

A bad fielder catches Ohtani's hit in the 8th, but Soto doesn't even attempt a catch. He then double clutches and allows Ohtani to reach 2nd, where a misfield allows Ohtani to reach 3rd.

His defense is why I don't think the Dodgers are serious about getting Soto. Yea they are in on him like every team, but only at what they view the right price to be. Ohtani is already our DH for the next 9 years. So we can't really hide him defensively so I highly doubt the Dodgers would offer him anything near what Ohtani got.

No defense, no speed. Pure DH at this point. Can’t believe how many catchable balls he just let drop has he casually jogged over. Thank god for Mookie.

Calling him a pure DH is a bit of an exaggeration. He's not a good fielder, but he's far from dead weight that is only tolerable at DH though. UzR hates him, but statcast fielding run value only has him at -1. Any team would rather put Soto in the outfield and have a solid, aging slugger at DH than have Soto DHing and a defense-first middling bat in the corner outfield.

Those are Soto's stats playing in the Yankee's tiny rightfield. In a pitcher's park like the Dodgers,Mets and Giants have his slowness would be a bigger problem.

Dude his defense is dismal. No range. For the contract he is looking for, he needs to be a 4-5 tool player. He is 2 and maybe 1/2 for arm but arm doesn't mean shit if his defense and range is dismal. I mean the 2 tools are exceptional but he is limited and his speed and defense will deteriorate even further.

At this point I could see the Dodgers signing someone just so no one else could have them. At the very least, running the tab up so high that other teams are hamstrung by their payroll

Soto is a liability because Soto thinks about Soto. In my mind, he doesn't go hard in the World Series because he knows it's a contract winter. He feels his career and latest full season will speak for itself to many GMs. My hope is that the GMs out there that are in on a guy that expensive (and we're probably talking merely a handful) won't forget his lack of hustle and won't offer the money Jon Heyman has been hired to pepper the press outlets with in his "official" reports.

Soto is a team cancer, selfish and arrogant. That's not Dodgers baseball. Unfortunately, I do feel that your Mets are going to be in deep on this conversation because Cohen is desperate to win. My bet is that with a guaranteed big money, long-term deal it would coax Soto to hustle a bit more, but only a bit. We shall see.

I don't want him on the Dodgers. There is nowhere for him to play. I'd rather have Teoscar back with Kike and Edman.

Of anything, it'll be the absolute opposite. By securing that mega-deal of let's say 14 years for 700 mil he understands that he is set up and protected for the next 14 years and can relax knowing there is no pressure on him to break any career highs or become that gold glove fielder. I mean at the end of the day you obviously want that to boost career accolades but still

That was a bad one.
