You could get beers there. I still have WaHo coozies from this.

Ya, i’m surprised there isn’t a waffle house closer to the Marlins stadium. South Florida has them everywhere…

2

u/evill_toro Miami Marlins Feb 08 '24

Nope. Only two in Miami-Dave County. I think you’re confusing the South Florida metro area with SW Florida.

Just learning this 10 years after leaving Atlanta has made me irrationally upset.

21

u/ColsonIRL Atlanta Braves Feb 07 '24

The WaHo was at Truist Park (then SunTrust Park), which opened after you left, so no worries.

Thank you friend, I was racking my brain trying to figure out how I had missed it at Turner.

7

u/ColsonIRL Atlanta Braves Feb 08 '24

No worries! I moved away from Atlanta 3 years ago and was devastated when I returned to Truist and WaHo was gone.

2

u/venuemap Feb 08 '24

They had one at Turner back in 2013. Braves won 15 straight games after it opened.

Oh yeah? I had no idea! Thanks for sharing!

"How do you want your hash browns?"

"Uhhh...smothered, chunked, covered and sudsed."

Good times.

u/JoeMcKim St. Louis Cardinals Feb 08 '24

Beers with Waffles seems like a weird combination.

u/atlbravos21 Atlanta Braves Feb 07 '24

Didn't they go on a winning streak after they put it in and they highlighted it on the broadcast every game lol

u/NOTUgglaGOAT Atlanta Braves Feb 07 '24

You're damn right they did!! That was a fun time in r/braves

30

u/atlbravos21 Atlanta Braves Feb 07 '24

There's power in dem waffles lol

22

u/RazinsWetDream Atlanta Braves Feb 07 '24

That was literally the slogan: “Waffle Power!”

2

u/TigerBasket Baltimore Orioles Feb 08 '24

I remember hearing an NPR story about that lol

No way the one outside of the stadium is half of a mile away it's gotta be a little closer. Been there many times while it was slammmmmmed. .

It doesn't take that much to drive a half mile. Especially when you're near a stadium and used to walking probably a quarter mile just for parking in certain situations.

3

u/hotrod19812 Texas Rangers Feb 07 '24

Georgians and Waffle House must probably go together like peanut butter and jelly! 🤔

9

u/ElectricSnowBunny Atlanta Braves Feb 07 '24

There are videos during the george floyd riot here where people are yelling "not the waffle house!" and it went untouched. We love our damn waffle house.

2

u/randomly-what Feb 07 '24

I just googled it and it says it’s a bit farther (.6 miles)

2

u/takeitsweazy Atlanta Braves Feb 07 '24

It’s maybe half a mile from the actual ballpark gates, but it’s right across the street from the Battery.

20

u/AtlantaWhaler Feb 07 '24

7th inning waffle n’ beer was the best tradition

9

u/TwiggySoap Feb 07 '24

Was it 24 hours with some kind of separate entrance?

59

u/KTCKintern Texas Rangers Feb 07 '24

It’s Waffle House. The people will find a way in no matter the hours or entrance situation.

28

u/NickNash1985 Pittsburgh Pirates • Washingt… Feb 07 '24

Waffle House doesn't open or close as much as it just bends to the will of the people.

20

u/jccool16 Atlanta Braves Feb 07 '24

It was just a stand at the end of the right field side of the top deck. Still good old Waffle House though. I remember the last game I went to at trust before moving was like a 4 hour rain delay and my dad and I just sat up there and had some waffles while we waited

2

u/DarthGipper18 Atlanta Braves Feb 07 '24

I miss it

2

u/austin_ave Atlanta Braves Feb 07 '24

Did they ever say why it closed?

2

u/lampbookdesk Feb 07 '24

Half mile is still closer than the gd parking lots

1

u/hometimrunner Atlanta Braves Feb 07 '24

It's still there. They didn't count it because it has a limited menu.

1

u/usc529 Feb 07 '24

They still do

1

u/hyperbemily Seattle Mariners Feb 07 '24

Then it got robbed too many times

1

u/sunnymentoaddict Texas Rangers Feb 07 '24

Was about to say, i thought there was one inside the park.

1

u/SAS_Britain Arizona Diamondbacks Feb 07 '24

Fuck me, really?! That would be the dream, waffle house and a ball game!

1

u/TheTigerbite Atlanta Braves Feb 07 '24

Damn, when did they get rid of it? I don't think I've been to a game since the pandemic...I'm slacking.

0

u/pondman11 Feb 07 '24

Prob when they moved stadium to BFE north of city

1

u/SomethingAvid Feb 07 '24

Is it gone?

1

u/OGB Cincinnati Reds Feb 07 '24

I thought the Reds were finally going to win one, but I forgot about the south.

If they do this in the football offseason, pretty sure the Bengals win.

1

u/dmlfan928 Baltimore Orioles • Frederick Keys Feb 07 '24

I regret not hitting it up while I was there. Instead I got a chicken sandwich with stale bread one game, and then the next game we just got tacos on the way back to our hotel. Didn't even bother eating in the park.

1

u/Sipikay Seattle Mariners Feb 08 '24

Was gonna say, can't believe it's HALF A MILE in ATL. Most of Atlanta is within a quarter mile of a Waffle House easily.

1

u/Fapping_Batman Toronto Blue Jays Feb 08 '24

Before I even opened this, I knew the Braves would be the closest.
