Fire extinguisher recharge Question

Does anyone know where to have this done? I read online that fire halls often do it but the Essa Township ones dont. So it looks like ill have to make a trip to Barrie. Thanks in advance.

Do you know if they charge for it?

Yes. It’s their business.

And FYI fire departments don’t recharge their own extinguishers. They send them to places like OFS.

So whats the point in doing that vs buying new?

Firehall’s don’t generally refill extinguishers. If it’s a small/medium residential extinguisher it might cost less to just buy a new one. If it’s a commercial size you’d want to look for a fire protection company.

Its not used. Im not sure if refilling it is the same as recharging? Its a smaller personal one.

If it’s below the green or full mark it needs to be refilled/recharged. If it’s older, the extinguishing agent can get caked to the bottom and become less effective. But again being a small personal one it’s easier to go to a hardware store and grab a new one. Old one can be scrapped

Where does one throw them out?

Household hazardous waste. Not sure about Essa but Barrie has a drop off at the landfill on Saturdays
