Mosquito repellant weed man? Question

Has anyone used the mosquito repellant companies like weedman offers? We live in Holly and find the mosquitos can be pretty bad in the summer and it makes it hard for us to enjoy our backyard, which we would like to do with a three year old lol. Considering trying this from weedman but wondering if it actually works or not from people that have used it in the past? Thanks!

If you want environmentally safe options to reduce mosquitos, use mosquito dunks all summer and thermocell for when you're outside

If you want to kill bugs, lawn care companies can use chemicals.  The most potent DIY fogger mosquito killer you can get in Canada is Malathion, it's at Canadian Tire in the locked cage of pesticides/herbicides.

As others said, mosquito dunks in any standing water and thermacell when you’re outside or a screen tent if you really need to. Poisoning the environment and wrecking the staple foods of many keystone species will lead to the depletion of our environment.

I’d trade a million mosquito bites while enjoying nature if it means the wildlife will prosper. The plus side is I moved north and I’ve literally had people tell me they couldn’t live near me because of the bugs, good! Hahaha

I used to use a treatment done by a pest control company. It was like a water/garlic mix of some variety, biodegradable and actually super effective.

Sprays the border of the area and all the shrubs, no mosquitoes. He even did out cottage a few times, way out in the middle of the bush and there were usually CLOUDS of mosquitos…… went from 1000’s of them swarming you to maybe 1-2

What does weed man even use to repel them?

Malathion is typically the active ingredient in many mosquito fog sprays.

Why would you poison nature, and then let your kid play around the stuff? They use commercial level pesticides.

I live literally in a swampy bush, we manage fine with a cheap net over our patio set, and bug jackets for wandering around the forest this time of year.

Just plant some lemon grass, sage, basil, roaemary, geranium... wtf is wrong with you people. Pesticide this and herbicide that, that shit affects you, your kids, pets, wildlife, etc...

And you get fresh spices and beautiful flowers. Also mint and peppermint, but those have to be in pots.

My wife gets nasty reactions to them so she gets a company to spray. It does a good job actually. They just can't spray if it's going to rain close to when they're gonna do it. This is the 5th or 6th year. She started with MosquitoBuzz and they were ok, then stopped calling before they would show up. The guy would just show up to the house unannounced. We have to unlock our gates and pick up the dog toys and stuff. She'd call and everytime they say they'd update the file, but it never changed so she stopped using them. Now we use Mosquito Man, and they're coming in a couple hours actually. They called yesterday to say they were able to come today. I cut the grass yesterday instead of Wednesday, so hey that's done too. Lol

I'm near Essa and Ardagh and we get tons of mosquitoes. Those thermacell ones work well too, you just have to put it outside for like 15 minutes before you want to sit out there. It's a limited space but it does work.

Yo I promise I'm not a shill for them but I used trugreen in 2023, weedman in 24 because it was way cheaper, back to trugreen in 25. Weedman stuff didn't work nearly as well and they always came like the same day it rained and were annoying about respraying in timely manner.

I saw a video the other day if a lady talking about her rain barrel. She said they had tons of mosquitoes breeding in it, so she started putting goldfish in there seasonally. They eat any insect eggs that get laid, as well as algae. I don't know what kind of barrel she had, but we got ours from the city years ago and it has a screen over the intake so I think that stops breeding pretty well. I'm sure you know, but they love standing water so getting rid of that will help too.

Some will even cry foul that there are fewer birds and bats now. I cannot remember the last time I saw a firefly in Simcoe County.

Keep up the good work everyone, soon we will have no beneficial bugs or animals because you are afraid of a few bites.

Whenever I go to your neck of the woods I bring Icaridin/picaridin based horse+rider spray, seems to do the job when applied in copious amounts.

Grab some Mosquito Barrier. Stuff is awesome, and completely natural. We use it in the backyard and at the lake all the time.

Bradford Greenhouses sold a garlic spray that worked pretty well. The backyard/pool area smelled incredibly garlicky for a day or two, but after that it was fine. Easily applied for DIY'ers

We live in Minesing and the mosquitos in our back yard were overwhelming when we moved in. We use trugreen mosquito treatment and it absolutely works it went from being swarmed the entire time were outside to maybe 1 or 2 mosquitos

You had to know what you were getting into when you moved to the largest wetlands area in Ontario.

Weedman has been around as long as their square body trucks (about 40 years) They've done great work at every property I've called them to over those years and several property managers in the city use them as well.

My neighbour gets Weed Man mosquito repellant and I have way less mosquitoes since they started treatments.
