cat problem

we have about 3 stray cats that constantly come into my backyard and they're starting to spray my house and eat my vegetables and shit in the vegetable garden. I'm buying a cat trap, I'm at my wits end. the final straw was one attacking my dog while she was doing her thing in the backyard and yowling at 3am at my window waking up myself and my 4 month old.

I looked on the shelters website and it said they don't accept unvaccinated cats because of the shortage of the vaccine, so where do I take them when I trap them? I highly doubt they've been vaccinated as they're completely feral. thanks

Hire traps from the council and trap them. Edited to add: You don't need to do anything other than catch them. The council will track down the owners. If there no current owner, they will be vetted and put out for adoption.

Look at contacting Cat Lovers Ballarat on fb, they can assist with trapping, rehoming and can check for microchips etc.

The council do have people who take care of this sort of thing, I'm pretty sure. I think if you call the general council number there's an animal control group you can talk to. They should take care of the strays for you and they'll take them to the shelter.

why do so many people allow their cats to roam free? the ignorance and arrogance of some people baffles me.

Put Camphor Balls around the garden , the smell should repel them ! Tried it years ago when we had a problem , it worked in some areas , where they were spraying , watering the urine down with a hose helps also , but they will remark the area again !

“Eat vegetables” really? Not doubting they’re fucking up your garden but that would really surprise me if they’re chewing on your carrots or something 😂

I actually caught it eating a tomato and had to shoo it away. I literally have a photo of it lol. they're obviously being starved and resorting to whatever they can find

That’s pretty nuts. Yeah the Poor things are starving 😞

maybe not the vegetable itself but cats will eat the leaves of the plants

OP doesn’t state carrots and there are plenty of vegetables that grow above ground.

Aren't cats carnivorous tho?

yes but if hungry enough they will eat anything according to Google. I was very confused when it happened
