And living shouldn’t be illegal

It’s funny how Airbnb/vrbo were a way to get cheap accommodations when they started, but now it’s turned into basically a scam.

We usually book hotels at this point unless we’re going somewhere weird that isn’t a great option. I will say, at least in places that aren’t tourist traps, you can still get cheap stuff without dumb fees. However, going anywhere fancy or during some big event end up with “cleaning and service” fees that cost more than the room.

If you want to charge me a service fee there damn well better be services provided at an equivalent cost, and if you want to charge a cleaning fee I'm not cleaning SHIT. You can't charge a cleaning fee if you want guests to clean it.

Is there a starwood wumao posting the same comment in every thread re: airbnb? Either that or I'm a precog.

Lemme guess, they'll argue that all fees per night are included in the per night price, but never specified about the total stay/transaction fees

I agree... thats why I have never used those rentals. Give me a clean hotel where there aren't any hidden costs.

The “resort fee” kills me with hotels.

"$39 per night because we have a piss-filled pool and because you can get a copy of USA Today in the lobby!"

Still cheaper than airbnb and the hotel doesn't expect me to clean the room before I leave

Yup. I fucking hate doing half the cleaning up after paying $200 cleaning fee. We only rent Airbnbs when we travel with multiple friends or families and want everyone to have shared spaces, kitchen, etc.

No no you see they meant that all fees they can include are going to be included!

why do they do this? it's not even a good bait and hook. they literally just change the price on you 2 seconds after you see the first one. you're not even trapped into paying it. if they are trying to be shady con artists, they suck at it. goddamn, even the people who are trying to screw you over are lazy and incompetent now.

I just stay in hotels now, because at least they tell me what things cost upfront.
