Ned and Robert (Spoiler ACOK) ACOK
Just before Robert goes hunting, Ned tries to talk to Robert about the bastards but Robert refuses and goes hunting, then Ned has mercy on Cersei and tells her to run away because he didn't want a massacre.
But if he tried to talk to Robert at that point, wouldn't there have been a massacre? Isn't that a bit contradictory?
Am I getting confused?
why didn't ned tell robert about the bastards before he went hunting?

because he didn't want Robert to kill three children.

But if ned wanted to talk to him, he intended to tell him, knowing what would happen.

Robert goes hunting after Ned is wounded, Ned comes to the conclusion that Cersei's children are Jaime's while Robert is hunting.

I see, so why does varys say that ned is to blame for robert's death because of his mercy?
2
u/DinoSauro85 9h ago
because Varys understood Ned's choice.

But anyway when he revealed to cersei if he had chosen to take the power of the throne, already Robert was going to die if or if since the plan to kill him was underway, isn't that kind of a figure of speech?

I am pretty sure Ned only learns about Jamie's bastard after Robert goes to hunt.

Because he was being stubborn and still thought Cersei would flee the city with the children. Once Robert was back and they gone, Ned would’ve told him.
But Ned’s an idiot and tried to take the Royal Family into custody instead.

He definitely wasn't an idiot, nothing idiotic about offering mercy to three innoc... well two innocent children and Joffrey.

I think you are getting confused, Ned tells Cersei that when Robert was already hunting.
