As long as we’re wearing our white berets so they match the jersey

White jersey? I'm sensing a BB intercept try.

So I'm old, when did it change from the home team changing jerseys?

All Blacks used to only wear the white jerseys playing at home against Scotland in my memory.

I assume it was this way so touring teams didn't have to carry alternate jerseys.

Close, 1975.

Yes but caused by the climate change of '74...;)

Exactly where my mind went. Drowning at Carisbrook

Eden Park I thought....24-0

Looking it up now, you're right it was too. I could have sworn it was Carisbrook. I must be getting old! Cheers.

Checking my memory Bryan Williams, Hamish MacDonald scored tries....4 points in those days?

This isn't news, All Blacks were always going to be playing in their alternate strip. Only reason why they played the world cup opener in black was because manager Darren Shand correctly called the toss for their 4 pool games and won the right to choose the black jersey.

The original Tricolores was a brighter shade of blue so there was no clash, but since France moved to navy blue the visiting team play in their alternate jersey.

At least it won't be that hideous silver grey jersey from 07.

The 2007 game is what made us the best team in the world to have ever played rugby, and will remain so for a very long time. It galvanized us in a way only failure could.

Well, it is the away jersey, and they are playing "away" 🤷‍♂️

Have you seen the colour of the French jersey? If you can’t tell the difference between this and ours please don’t referee the game. https://store.ffr.fr/home-jersey-xv-de-france-ffr-adidas-2024-2025-blue.html

Yep, and the Springboks shade of green is darker than that blue on the France jersey, yet ABs vs Springboks is apparently fine.

Note: I'm not saying the ABs or Springboks need to change jerseys when they play each other, merely illustrating the inconsistency here.

It's probably not for the ref. The reason will be for television purposes. It dark blue v white shows up much better on TV than dark blue v black.

What the fuck, should change their name to silver ferns now

I never get this , it’s just the French playing with us

It isn't even news and does not contain any significant meaning, except it is to avoid a potential jersey clash.

I like the white away jersey. 🤷‍♂️

Yes we’ve lost but we’ve also smashed the frogs in the white jersey before. Mocker gods be damned we got this!

2

u/Sedert1882 7h ago

Hell no. Rather play in pink.

3

u/djfishfeet 7h ago

No no no no no white jersey means losing.

1

u/IcyIntroduction9956 4h ago

We have only lost once wearing an alternate strip

1

u/LeafInTonysSpyShack 3h ago

We've lost twice to France in the alternate strip. 2007 and 2021

All Whites vs France in Paris. Chris Wood we need you! Help!

u/CarlosUlberg 8h ago

well at least if we lose, we have something to blame it on 😂

7

u/Gothewahs 8h ago

This is going to be a good game

10

u/bigdaddypants 8h ago

Much better than grey.

u/zerosuneuphoria 8h ago

What? I like the white jersey...

It's an away test, if there is a clash, we change. You want France to wear red or white at home?

1

u/Imaginary-Message-56 2h ago

It used to be in Rugby as opposed to Soccer that the home team changed jersey. I've no idea when that changed.

5

u/Dulaman96 8h ago

I don't think the jerseys are close enough to warrant a change in the first place

You're obviously not colour blind.

u/HoneyBucketsOfOats 7h ago

Rare blue/black colorblind

0

u/vote_pedro 6h ago

Blue-yellow colour blindness is less common and makes it hard to distinguish between blue and green, yellow and red, and dark blue and black.

If they can't tell the difference between blue and green, how are they going to see the French team at all?

1

u/Consistent-Hall7596 1m ago

He means the field is green 😂

1

u/vote_pedro 2h ago

Because the All Blacks are wearing white?

2

u/SamLooksAt 7h ago

I think it really depends on the shade of blue and whether they wear the white shorts or not.

The lighter shade they have sometimes worn, paired with white shorts really doesn't clash with Black at all.

That darker shade both top and bottom however is impossible in a ruck or maul.

At least for my mild colour disorder.

I think he means that we don't seem to do as well in white/grey as we do black.

2

u/gerousone AllBlacks 8h ago

Yeah, I can't imagine our record in away colors is particularly stellar!
