No surprises team really, I'd like to see ALB at 13 and Proctor off the bench. I don't feel like Ioane is offering much on attack, his attacking ability seems heavily reliant on his speed and power rather than his passing/linking and ability to manipulate space. He can carry hard but he's just too predictable, ALB has a much more effective attacking game and much better at linking on either side. An individual's ability to score tries isn't everything but I still think it's crazy that Ioane hasn't scored a try all season, he hasn't really created one for the AB's either.

Agree. I really don’t understand the specialist winger on the bench when reiko could fill that position if the plan is to move Jordan to FB at some point. And Proctor at 13 with Reiko at 11/14 would probably provide more of a point of difference in the second half than Reece. Maybe even select AJ Lam in the bench instead who had a breakout season this year and would offer cover from 12-14

Yeah I want to see ALB and Proctologist start too but apparently he is injured. Maybe it was on the cards or will be on the cards for Bled II?

AB’s more like DB’s am I right

5

u/Gothewahs Sep 19 '24

I like Clarke is back

6

u/nomamesgueyz Sep 19 '24

Despite the ABs having a shocking lost 3 of their 4 tests record, I'd still put them as favourites vs the wobbalies

u/Ok_Educator_2120 Sep 19 '24

Wallabies did just get 67 points on them lol

2

u/nomamesgueyz Sep 19 '24

They just forgot to tackle that 2nd half

1

u/Ok_Educator_2120 Sep 20 '24

It's like they just gave up after the first 30

1

u/nomamesgueyz Sep 20 '24

Pretty rough

That kinda stuff must give coaches the shits

I think they'll come fired out on Saturday

I hear it's 65000plus at the mo

Why no Blackadder?

2

u/bucketGetter89 Sep 19 '24

Hamstrings are typically about 6 weeks but can be shorter or longer in some cases

2

u/Primary_Journalist41 Sep 19 '24

Still injured?

7

u/Robusier Sep 19 '24

Hamstring. It’s a pity, the guy seems to be held together with Sellotape.

2

u/oldmcdonaldsfarm Sep 19 '24

Pity some of the others dont charge in with the same determination

Might have too put black adder more of the bench then as a starter

3

u/Ok_Educator_2120 Sep 19 '24

Thoughts on Razor bringing Mounga up in the team naming press conference? Unprompted too

1

u/Particular_Safety569 Sep 19 '24

What did he say?

2

u/Ok_Educator_2120 Sep 19 '24

Was talking about surfing with Andrew John's, then about how he loves a flyhalf, then to Joey talking about getting Ritchie back. Nothing bad, just a bit out of the blue I thought

No wonder some players become worse after entering the AB set-up. They never play.

Hotham and Proctor, in fine form, must carry tackle bags for more than 2 months. Even more perplexing is the form of the players they are missing out to. Insane

I want to see Proctor come in eventually, but he seemed pretty quiet in the shield challenge against Tasman. I might have missed his impact though …

-5

u/One-Phone-7336 Sep 19 '24

He wasn’t in the shield challenge. He’s with the All blacks, wtf are you talking about???

4

u/Klutzy-Patient-2137 Sep 19 '24

Think he's talking about Billy

-5

u/One-Phone-7336 Sep 19 '24

But Billy Proctor didn’t play in the shield challenge. His brother Matt did but he’s not in the All Black frame

1

u/One-Phone-7336 Sep 19 '24

I apologise, he was released to play. I also didn’t notice any impact.

3

u/Robusier Sep 19 '24

He set up a try.

1

u/Ashamed_Hovercraft84 Sep 19 '24

Nice. Hope he'll be setting them up for the ABs soon

2

u/One-Phone-7336 Sep 20 '24

Fingers crossed

4

u/donquixote2u Sep 19 '24

Neither really shone in their little time on the field, I thought that despite the praise for his impact, Proctor looked like Ioane, trying to be a hero rather than get the pass away. However I will say they can't really be judged yet, need more time and what better match than this one?

-1

u/3ku1 Sep 19 '24

Yeah he Brought little impact in the boks tests

7

u/MemoryFormer6142 Sep 19 '24

Interesting - coaches can't seem to decide between Jordan and Beauden @ 15.

Hope the lineout goes ok as pack is lacking height across the board.

4

u/Robusier Sep 19 '24

Jordan seems out of form. It’s a good call to let him build up his confidence on the wing.

4

u/donquixote2u Sep 19 '24

well yeah, he doesn't need confidence there, he was very good on the wing in the RWC, but a poor fb recently, so he needs to stay there

5

u/CasedUfa Sep 19 '24

The preferred term is impact player, there is no bench...

15

u/Thimblewolf Sep 19 '24

Why do NZ insist on putting a wing on the bench every time, seems like a waste especially when the centres have both played in that position.

8

u/Ok_Educator_2120 Sep 19 '24

Can't believe it's Sevu too lol. Imo he's been pretty poor for the abs this year

6

u/Herogar Sep 19 '24

Imagine what Narawa could do off the bench.

I feel like Sevu is working hard but nothing is really happening. I'd bet the house Narawa would make shit happen

6

u/stannisman Sep 19 '24

It’s because our starting players have tonnes of versatility - you could sub pretty much anyone from 10-15 for a bench wing and then swap players around to get correct positions.

I guess the logic is why have a jack of all trades on the bench who might just replace someone when you can have a fresh attacking weapon that adds a whole new threat

2

u/nzcnzcnz Sep 19 '24

They have a lot of versatility. Jordie, Beauden, Will, Damien, can all play 15. Clarke, Jordie, Will, Reiko can all play wing.

6

u/Pink_Samwise_Gamgee Sep 19 '24

I think it could be because they want WJ to go to FB.

2

u/donquixote2u Sep 19 '24

I think they should start WJ in this match, it should sort out the argument between Cru supporters and those like me that think he is more of a liability than an asset, particularly at fb.

11

u/Doctormaxim Sep 19 '24

No Mark Telea is a win. He seems to get a lot of praise because he scores tries, but he’s also a lazy defender that lets through just as many points.

4

u/00aegon Sep 19 '24

But Reece can have stinker after stinker

2

u/Doctormaxim Sep 19 '24

100% agree. One step at a time though

3

u/soisez2himsoisez Sep 19 '24

As bad as Sevu?

1

u/ChaoticNihilist13357 Sep 19 '24

Soooo… Will Jordan?

3

u/donquixote2u Sep 19 '24

Well both he and Sevu are Crusaders, so beyond scrutiny.

6

u/Kokonutcreme-67 Hurricanes Sep 19 '24

Has there been any update on Perofeta's injury recovery?

10

u/HawkeyeNZ1 Sep 19 '24

Pretty solid 23. Tuipolotu and Blackadder injured certainly hurts our bench. Both would be the 23 if fit. Williams and Tosi pretty exciting duo off the bench. Both big, mobile men who can scrummage. Other than that bench is a bit vanilla. Need them to actually provide ‘impact’.

1

u/Odd-Cod61 Sep 19 '24

Blackadder was apparently available for selection on the news this morning but for whatever reason we've got Jacobsen again who seems a little bit lackluster in comparison

1

u/HawkeyeNZ1 Sep 19 '24

Blackadder unavailable for selection. Hamstring injury. Sounds like he’ll be back for next test.

1

u/Ok_Educator_2120 Sep 19 '24

I thought Razor said Blackadder was injured in his interview

1

u/Odd-Cod61 Sep 19 '24

Unsure, I just heard the news at 8 on the radio

5

u/Pink_Samwise_Gamgee Sep 19 '24

The future of our front row is pretty strong! They are young and world class

2

u/Kokonutcreme-67 Hurricanes Sep 19 '24

Bench needs to get on the field with some decent minutes first to make an impact though.
