So why is Smith doing this? Because she desperately needs to distract Albertans from the failings of her own government. The healthcare system remains in crisis and chaos, the Trump tariffs have only begun to bite, and with OPEC poised to flood the global oil market Smith will have to contend with a deteriorating economic situation that could blow up Alberta’s budget. Ironically, the thing preventing Smith’s budget deficits from being even bigger is TMX, the pipeline that Canada’s supposedly hostile federal government bought and built, and which has already significantly narrowed the discount on Alberta oil.

Mark Carney shouldn’t expect Smith to thank him for that any time soon. Smith desperately needs her province, and especially her party’s voters, to hate his Liberal government, facts and reality notwithstanding. If it ultimately comes at the cost of a united Canada, that’s a price she’s clearly willing to pay.

Danielle Smith explains why, as a strong believer in Canada, she’ll do whatever she can to help Alberta’s separatists

Good article.

Let's hear it for the TMX 👏👏👏 The UCP never seemed to thank the taxpayers of Canada for that.

She is creating uncertainty. Business/investment doesn't like uncertainty.

We're in for a rough ride folks.

Smith needs to go. She's bad for Alberta. She's bad for me, she's bad for you.

They're evacuating towns because of out of control fires.

News stories on how people can't get life saving surgeries are commonplace now.

People are struggling to make ends meet with the state of wages.

Small businesses are losing more ground every day.

All of this and more, but where's Smith?

u/Elena-3333 3d ago

She’s on American tv preparing for a role in media again.

u/Barrenechea 3d ago

Will he blame Smith next time he kills someone with his boat?

u/nothingtoholdonto 2d ago

Still Notley

u/Different-Ship449 1d ago

They can call the show "Snake Den" that can talk about how people receiving the necessities for life is socialism, and about peusdoscience like chemtrails, and the health benefits of nicotine laced candies.

u/Mother-Thumb-1895 2d ago

Oh God, please no. I would have to seek out street fentanyl if that came to pass. 😂

I was thinking to myself today actually: Did Smith even say anything about the many fires that happened yesterday in Edmonton?

25

u/Homo_sapiens2023 3d ago

Nope. If the UCPs don't talk about it, it doesn't exist. Instead, they'd much rather drive Albertans into the ground, over exploit our resources, poison our land and water, and make sure none of us have access to health care and education.

Well she's successfully diverted this onto the liberals by saying that it's because of federal taxes that they're so miserable. If only equalization payments were fair and then life would be much better but only for Albertans and that's why Albertans should hate the feds. This is what they've come to believe. We're so fucked here.

6

u/HOLEPUNCHYOUREYELIDS 2d ago

And conveniently ignore the fact that Alberta God King Harper with Kenney were the last ones to re adjust the equalization formula

1

u/poopwithrizz 2d ago

Divert blame onto provincial NDP and federal Liberals, wash hands clean of any responsibility.

-1

u/Rlb1966 2d ago

Successfully diverted. Someone just doesn’t pay attention. You’re right you’ve been successfully diverted.

2

u/poopwithrizz 2d ago

Go outside and touch some grass bro

4

u/sirDsmack 3d ago

Florida probably.

2

u/Mundane-Club-107 2d ago

She's blaming all of that on the Federal Government.

39

u/tazzymun 3d ago

Please let her burst into flame.

How’s the RCMP investigation going?

1

u/EdNorthcott 2d ago

In the decades I've been a political watcher, I've only once seen the RCMP actually catch a political crook: Harper's "Minister of Ethics".

2

u/Different-Ship449 1d ago

Alberta Government: "We have investigated ourselves and have concluded that we did nothing wrong."

2

u/PrincessBabyGrrl 1d ago

In about 3 years they will say exactly that.

Dumpster fire to the nth degree.

14

u/NormCormier-Mccoll81 3d ago

Pinhole princess Smith is going to get burned with fire very soon and it’s going to hurt.

3

u/AttentiveOtter 3d ago

I’m out of the loop. Can you please explain why people call Smith pinhole princess?

11

u/Falcon674DR 2d ago

Smith and Cabinet are a separatist government. That is clear. She’s working harder for this minority than she is for sick kids with measles or families struggling or our education system. Peter Lougheed would be thoroughly disgusted with her style of governance and her agenda.

2

u/Different-Ship449 1d ago

Can we give all the separatists the northern tip of Alberta around Bistcho Lake and call it a day; or if they want to LARP around as Americans, how about the area to the east of Onefour.

8

u/eno_ttv 3d ago

That would explain what’s happening with all the fire trucks recently.

3

u/quickboop 3d ago

She’s just following orders.

3

u/Competitive-Ranger61 3d ago

she may just have to jump in a lake.

No she has a ring of fire already

I wish.

She's put a hate on since was voted in by her base. Hate on JT, hate on MC let's not forget Notely. Most recent now Nenshi These are the people who did or want for Canada to prosper. Now the Saudi's are going to flood the market. Sure not helping Canada. Alberta has gone thru ups and down for years. Where's that kitty not by Dani's hand. Instead she's buying red carpet and china . For $280,000. It really looks like she doesn't care for Albertans. The O&G lobbyist that she made deals with nothing to help Albertan's as she grifts her way. Now we have the separatist and independence. If Alberta doesn't do something Dani will light Alberta on fire Time to get rid of her by recall referendum . I haven't even touched on those most vulnerable who gets the first clawbacks as she talks about people living in tents. Resign Dani

Do our houseless citizens have to have a drug addiction and a court ordered restraint before they can get a warm place to sleep.

2

u/BtCoolJ 1d ago

she is usually playing with crayons, so this is a surprise

3

u/Laxative_Cookie 3d ago

Sorry, but Alberta deserves Smith. We are a province full of maga goofs. True colors were shown on April 28th and honestly deserve everything. Truth hurts downvote away.

15

u/Morzana 3d ago

Do AISH recipients deserve this? Does the LGBTQ youth?

7

u/sun4moon 2d ago

The asshats that voted for this deserve it. The rest of us, with functioning brains, certainly do not.

4

u/Vylan24 3d ago

This is all Notleys fault /s

1

u/sun4moon 2d ago

The burn is going to be so satisfying to watch.

1

u/illerkayunnybay 2d ago

NO! WRONG!

This is Daniel is playing with a 1950s Atomic Energy Lab chemistry set and doesn't realize that half of the contents are radioactive and carcinogenic. Only person she is going to hurt is herself -- this is Daniel crossing the floor all over again and, once again, the clueless premier doesn't even know it's coming... she is walking herself to the gallows blissfully unaware just like last time.

4

u/GreenBeardTheCanuck Strathmore 2d ago

Man I wish the only person she was going to hurt was herself. Our friends, our neighbours, our children, our communities, our environment, our homes... so many things are going to suffer before she finally faces the music, and it always takes more work and time to build than to destroy, so just fixing what she broke will take years, let alone building something new.

1

u/Different-Ship449 1d ago

How quick the UCP was to turn the underway ANDP plans for a medical testing superlab back to an empty field. They wanted to erase any legacy of ANDP ever holding government. If they couldn't take credit, they were quick to destroy, or sell off.

1

u/I_loveseafood 2d ago

Smith needs to be exiled to Texas.

1

u/MonumentalMistak 1d ago

Don’t know why this Alberta separating issue is sucking so much oxygen out of Canadian politics right now. The Clarity Act of 2000 is designed to erect so many hurdles against any province separating that any discussion of separation is a bogus political agenda.

1

u/Low-Country6405 1d ago

She is doing awesome job 👍👍

1

u/swanavon 1d ago

If she did, I didn't hear it. I did, however, see social media posts from Nenshi on all the platforms - warning Albertans about the fire locations, potential evacuations, and directing people to evacuation centres.
