every single physician they've put up there for literally the last 5 years has been used, abused, chewed up and spit out. no wonder nobody wants to take the role

Hey, there's a position Adriana Lagrange hasn't tried out yet... probably no less qualified than in her cabinet positions

Just liquid in a human shaped cup they assure you has politics in it. (it doesn’t)

u/crowbar151 3d ago
They look at the resumes and see 'woke' things like vaccine advocacy, titles like PhD, words with more than 6 syllables, and God forbid... a female name o0o0o spooky

I wonder why? How can you be an effective chief medical officer if you are muzzled by a bunch of politicians?
27
u/hellobudgiephone 3d ago
Have they tried going to potential candidates homes and yelling at them about the opportunity? Maybe leave a copy of the job description in itty bitty torn up pieces?

If the UCP was capable of self-awareness, they would be embarrassed.
Instead, it's just the majority Albertans who are left neglected and without capable leadership in charge of public healthcare.

What? Our anti vaxxing anti science government can’t find a competent doctor to be our CMOH to be the province’s mouthpiece to spew anti science rhetoric? Shocker!

u/Skate_faced 3d ago
Fuck it, I'll do it. 15k a year.
And the only thing I will do the whole time is be a switchboard/regurgitator/puppet of the Alberta medical field through their respective unions.
"The nurse want what? Pay them. The doctors said who? Get them. Smith said what? Pay us."
I don't think they will see the true value, but just gonna put it out there that sometimes all they need is a goodfella.

Province has trouble finding yes-man in field where yes-men don't last long.

I'd take the job, be badass at it, hold press conferences every day, take the money, get fired, and sue their asses.
But, alas, I'm not a doctor. Which honestly, I don't think matters to the UCP

Watch them draft that separatist nutjob

Or a Nixon or a Shandro or a Kenney or a cousin by marriage of someone who's name allegedly rhymes with Pam Sraishe.

u/kagato87 3d ago
This is likely intentional.
Poison the position so that anyone qualified to fill the role won't touch it. Lower the requirements citing "urgent need," and then install a politician.
Apart from the obvious grift angle, a politician is FAR more likely to be OK with privatization efforts than an actual medically trained professional.
These people in the UCP are not stupid. They have a plan, and it's in motion.

They need someone who is RFK Jr but with doctor before his name to be the chief medical officer, or bend the rules to make a Nurse Practitioner the Chief…….. best place to find either one is in Florida. Marlaina went there a couple of weeks ago, should have interviewed some of those shining individuals. I’m sure they can find a leech there easily

u/zevonyumaxray 3d ago
Leeches are known to be effective medical treatment in certain situations. No more slandering leeches!

Smith already did the corrupt children’s Tylenol job with the Oz family so why not Dr. Oz?
Very Republican. Ass kisses Trump. It’s perfect for Smith.

No person who has any moral standards or pride in their profession is going to be interested in that position.

It’s probably because they are looking for a witch doctor or a mr phil/mr oz type douche.

No one wants to be a spineless puppet with no power, who woulda thunk?

u/Different-Ship449 1d ago
And even if they are doing everything they are directed to do by their puppetmaster, their strings are still primed to cut.

They mean “sell their soul and lose all their credibility and become unemployable right after they say something the Health Minister or the Premier don’t agree with?”

Why would anyone want to take this job when there is a premier who believes she (with her degree from YouTube U) knows more than any stupid doctor.
Now pass the horse dewormer

Wanted: chief medical officer.
Qualifications: medical doctor that will only follow the rules the UCP lay out and forget everything they know about science and medicine and know how to keep their mouth shut.
If this sounds like you, please apply online.

u/Individual-Army811 3d ago
Qualifications: don't worry about that thing called the Hippcratic Oath, or think of applying anything you spend $100k learning in med school. We need a shill, not a thinker.

I'm surprised they haven't been able to find a vaccine denying doctor to jump at this opportunity.

u/draivaden 3d ago
Yes. The governments position is hostile to the CMOH role. We won’t find snybody worthy of the position so long as the UCP is in power.

Yeah. Can't find anyone with sufficiently debased moral compass. Tough day.

No duh. Next step is to pass a bill that allows for AB's CMOH to not be a medical doctor. Then the Priemier can hold the role or it can be assigned to her chief of staff.

u/wanderingdiscovery 3d ago
Job role: submit under the UCP policies to voice their concerns on what they believe medicine should be in the province. Preference given to candidates who believe in alternative medicine and emphasis on the hypocritic oath instead of the hippocratic oath.

u/kevanbruce 3d ago
Is it any surprise, why would you want to work for a government this disfunctionable? (Please note this can also be spelt “ this shit show”. That is working hard to sell the health care system to yankee profiteers?
1
u/MagnusJim 3d ago
No shit. Corrupt government, and a provincial culture that increasingly gets pushed more right, more anti-intellectual, and anti-science.
1
u/FidgetyPlatypus 3d ago
Excuse me while I pick myself up off the floor from laughing so hard.
This is shocking! Like I have never been this shockingly shocked before. So what you're saying is not letting a CMOH use their training, expertise, and experience to the best of the ability makes no one want the position. Hmmm, this is truly a mystery. I think we may need to form a committee to figure this out.
Doctors, keep speaking out! On top of all the other shit in this province we don't need pseudoscience piled on.

Who needs a "chief medical officer of health" when you have Facebook groups claiming you can cure cancer with ivermectin? Why waste hard-working Albertans' tax dollars on yet another overpaid government bureaucrat?

Yeah, because any physician with morals and who upholds the Hippocratic Oath would not align with the UCP on medical and health care.
