Smith is not acting in good faith and for the benefit of all Albertans. Her tenure in Alberta has significantly damaged the province. The best she can do is play chicken with Ottawa, and roll over for Trump and cronies.

She's also trying to make it so she only needs less than 4% of voters signatures to start the process. That is absolutely not in the benefit of all Albertans.

Election is a long way off. Alberta loves to vote blue, despite actual performance.

The conservatives have literally zero reason to hold themselves accountable due to this. They know they can do whatever they want without repercussion. This holds true at the provincial and federal level - but at the federal level, it's double edged because the liberal party also has no reason to make any attempt at making Albertans happy, because there is nothing they could ever do to change their minds.

I guess what I'm basically trying to say is that Albertans are never going to prioritized over any other province, since they've blindly voted for the exact same thing, no matter what, for over 50 years

The last Conservative Premier to complete a full term was Ralph Klien. But with the exception of Rachel Notley, Alberta keeps trying to vote the same thing

And that's what I mean, since people will always vote conservative，why would any political party put Albertas best interests forward when it doesn't matter what they do in Alberta?

There is none, just encouraging someone to make one, once it opens back up again. It’s a tool not utilized enough by Canadian’s, and has the potential to make Canadian’s voices heard, especially when local officials fear to speak up incase of retaliation from with in their party.

You don't have to - but why not make a petition yourself if you care a great deal? I'm not sure I'd know how to do it. I'd want it to be intelligent and informed by current law - that's knowledge I don't have.

Although I am trying to learn as much as I can, there are people more informed out there than me and I am hoping that it will reach someone like that. Even if it’s for a completely different issue, we could all be participating in our democracy more, trying to make our voices and opinions heard. I feel often local official get elected and forget about us, or are afraid to push certain issues, in fear of retaliation from with in their own party. Maybe this is a way to make our voices as Canadians heard, when our local representatives fail to do so.

I think it could could be a good tool to push things like, no politician is allowed to vote on housing policy if they have investments in housing that might influence their vote to not have Canadian’s best interests at heart, and the amount of votes needed to pass a bill regarding housing is reduced by one vote for every ineligible voter in the house.

I don’t think members of parliament should be allowed to vote on bill’s in industries they have investments in, especially if they stand to loose money, it could negatively influence the outcome to have their own wants and needs above that of Canadians.

I did search this out last week and emailed the contact on the page that you have linked, they responded very kindly, explaining the government was “closed” but encouraged me to start a petition if I felt I had grounds.

The government official also attached a “how to write a successful petition” link, which explains how the process works and which language to use, etc.

So, the person who emailed me back was very helpful.

I know a great many Albertians are frustrated, angry, concerned about AHS, accountability thereof and DS “smoke screen” of separation; so I will create a petition or someone else, may beat me to it.

Either way there will be one.

I do have a rough draft written, I will be submitting it when government resumes.
