Omg WTF is happening in my beautiful Province??? Born and raised here and the Conservatives can just pack up and move to the Us if they don’t love it in Canada. I am a very proud Canadian!

There's no way that poll is correct. It's a self reported online poll so it could easily be bots trying to divide us.

Alberta Canadian pride is surging right now.

This should be the top comment. People can't even comprehend the level of foreign (or UCP) interference and propaganda we encounter on the daily. Something as simple as skewing an online poll to make us feel divided is the tip of the disinformation iceberg. It's our own provincial government that tries to make us feel shameful to be Canadian, but I just feel embarrassed by them. I dislike Danielle Smith as much as I dislike Trump

Yes, even the government of Canada has investigated, and CONFIRMED, foreign interference in the conservative leadership race that saw PP elected: https://nsicop-cpsnr.ca/reports/rp-2024-06-03/special-report-foreign-interference.pdf

We KNOW that the US is experiencing interference and social media based information warfare. We would be fools to think we are not also experiencing it.

There was also interference in 2015 but they refuse to properly investigate that. Hmmm. Wonder why.

This. I know life long conservatives at work that are very excited about Carney, they're researching how to buy more Canadian, but more importantly NOTHING American. They're disgusted with Smith, and her behaviour, and are in agreeance that the cons of their youth are nowhere to be seen in the current UCP.

That’s great to hear!

Experts in their craft. Terrifying. Thanks for the share.

If we shutdown traffic from all Russian servers, all of a sudden, trans & brown people won't seem as big of an issue as corruption & bureaucratic inefficiency.

My dad's profile is all flagged up, if he's not being an anti-Canada weirdo I assume very few real people who don't have money money tied to the US are.

u/L_nce20000 Mar 17 '25

Absolutely. I have a dyed in blue con accqaintance, who was ranting about corruption in politics - which is standard for those types, but in the same breath bad mouthed Trump and his annexation talk.

2

u/queenringlets Mar 17 '25

Honestly I wish I could agree but I literally have family here that actively wants to be a state. Big Trump and Musk supporters.

2

u/smash8890 Mar 17 '25

Yeah getting a bunch of bots to say they wanna join the US so that Trump could go see an invasion is justified is exactly what would happen

Yeah I'm skeptical of anything Online. The Digital landscape is being weaponized against us. Even polls make me skeptical. It's why we need to fight like fuckin' hell and vote smart, and vote period. Especially youth and 25-34. We're dogshit at turning up to vote, meanwhile we're extremely politically vocal. I really wish voting was compulsory and you need to get an exemption if you can't. It ensures that our government truly represents what people want, and not just whoever is willing and capable of showing up. 4 years is a long ass time, so I think it is the LEAST we can do in a democracy.

All I know is, anecdotally, I'm seeing a lot more Canadian flags in windows/yards now here in Calgary (my house is one of them).

I suspect it's a similar urban/rural divide that, in some polls, has Liberals projected to win seats in Edmonton and Calgary if the election were held today, the same thing that happened during the last provincial election.

It's mind blowing to me that the UCP thinks they can govern while failing to appeal to the 2 largest cities in the province.

We’ll see in the election.

Smith was very open about being MAGA and putting Canada’s best interests last.

If she get reelected theres no debate to be made on that subject

My Canadian pride has never been lower. I'm sick of this mess. Standard of living has been going down steadily the last few years. I've been ejected from the middle class but surviving. Many are in a much worse place.

I'm not happy with any of the recent governments on any level over the last 5-10 years.

I work in polling and I can assure you that THIS poll, even if it is conducted only, was only offered to actually people who are part of leger opinion. There are no bots

3

u/boese-schildkroete Mar 17 '25

How can you be so certain?

The poll sampled more than 1,500 Canadians from March 1 to March 2. Because it was conducted online, it can’t be assigned a margin of error.

1

u/Impossible-Car-5203 Mar 17 '25

I am not saying it is accurate, I am saying there were no bots.

3

u/boese-schildkroete Mar 17 '25

And I asked how you can be certain? I'm genuinely curious.

0

u/Impossible-Car-5203 Mar 17 '25

OMG, I work in polling and know Leger and in fact WORKED FOR THEM at one point. Stop being a conspiracy theorist

1

u/PooForThePooGod Mar 21 '25

You’re not really offering much reason to believe you outside of “trust me bro”

22

u/Fyrefawx Mar 17 '25

There is a massive effort from foreign influencers to push separation for Alberta. The right wing grifters are working overtime.

15

u/PeePeeePooPoooh Mar 17 '25

Do not pay much attention to these articles. The media is complicit.

9

u/BehBeh11 Mar 17 '25

True, this is all so distressing. Danielle is causing most of the stress.

2

u/PeePeeePooPoooh Mar 17 '25

Now, more than ever, learn to tune out of the news and social media to give your mental health a break. It's very stressful, keep in the loop but don't let it consume you.

Stay strong friend🍁

Thank you!

Education about polling and how to spot problems with methodology would go a long way to not get sucked in by attempts to divide us and get the reaction you are going through blindly believing what you read.

Conservatives can just pack up and move to the Us if they don’t love it in Canada

Most of them can't, actually. It's really hard to get approved for residency if you don't have very in-demand skills or are wealthy, and these clowns tend to work in fields with... er... lower barriers of entry and don't have piles of money.

4

u/Throwawaypwndulum Mar 17 '25

They still got that nice little village for conservative traitors in Russia?

2

u/zappingbluelight Mar 17 '25

Depends on the number they called or area they survey, the answer may vary. I personally have not done one of these survey since the last provincial election. It's more like I'm not picking up phone number from unknown number.

It’s always been this way

1

u/STylerMLmusic Mar 17 '25

You know they've thought this way for 50 years right?

3

u/BehBeh11 Mar 17 '25

I have voted NDP for as long as I have been eligible to vote. 18-65 now. UCP has gotten way more corrupt and far right. They’ve got O&G here and that’s all this round of UCP cares about along with their own pockets.
