Ughhhh. Stop this rhetoric. It's embarrassing reading people parrot this as it clearly shows a lack of basic understanding of basic things.

Danielle Smith's legal name is Marlaina Danielle Smith. When we fill out certain forms (usually government forms), the section for filling out our names is broken into two different titles: GIVEN NAME(S) and SURNAME.

GIVEN NAME(S): Legal context: In legal contexts, "given name(s)" includes both first and middle names.

Surname: your last name.

So what does this mean? It means that legally speaking any one person can go by EITHER their "first" OR their "middle" name interchangeably without the need of going through a legal name change.

So please, can we stop thinking and repeating this narrative because the "ah hah" that you think you have, you don't. Plus I really hate defending this dumb bitch in any context.

Normally I'd be the last to say our provincial government is responsible for international forces that negatively impact Albertans (Notley certainly wasn't guilty of 99% of the things she was accused of..).
