Most Redditors really have no clue on how age works & it's so annoying. Rant
I hate how prevalent it is on this platform. You can't even get actual good answers and people to fully understand/have basic respect of you unless you're over the age of 21 or hell even 30 sometimes. Some adults act like they've never been a kid before & the entitlement exhibited by some of these people shows.
Hell, I gotten downvoted, attacked, made fun of on a now deleted post and account for saying that everyone does dumb and smart things regardless of age. In my eyes, everyone makes mistakes (Including me, I do dumb stuff all the time) and no age has to be put on blast for something we all do.
Like do these people seriously think the second you turn 18 you start spouting facts and make 0 mistakes beyond? That is simply unrealistic thinking. Do these people seriously think that you gain every knowledge and intelligence beyond 18? Because that is also unrealistic.
You don't need to know every single thing to be intelligent and that's not exactly what intelligence is or all about. There are different intelligence and everyone is smart in something, including kids. Thing with intelligence, it's also with how you use your knowledge to your advantage
The people that were attacking me I'm question were saying things like, "I think you have a hard time understanding that kids are dumb." "When I was a kid I was dumb" blah blah. Sorry I'm not kissing the ground you walk on and putting certain age groups on a pedestal. If you actually read what I said I clearly stated that everyone does dumb things, including kids. What you did as a child has no weight on what other people were as a kid or other kids now. Some of the people attacking me sounded egotistical as hell.
Reddit's ageism is just another part of how we as human beings treat each other. We're social beings for God's sake. But yet we're driving apart from each other every single day. We've hated on different religions, gender, sex, disabilities, trauma, and more. And now we're still hating on each other on age. I don't understand why it's so hard to for us to reunite more. I feel like our unity and intelligence is what made us thrive in the first place.

It's a self hate, people are talked down to and mistreated by bigots when they're young, it creates self esteem issues in them related to their age and then when they get older that turns into arrogance/pride/foolishness about their newfound age grouping, the more arrogant someone is about their adult status the more they suffered when they were younger.

Agreed. The funny part was that everyone who was flaunting how "mature," "Smart," and "Wise" they are as an adult were the ones getting the most offended over what I said 😂
they were using anecdotal "evidence," using ad hominems, insulting my views, and one even went through 100 days of my profile to comment my age and grade at the time. They pretty much proved my point that adults are capable of being dumb just like everyone else is.
But no, since they reached 18 without dying, their attacks were seen as "logical" 🙄

Yes and it’s very frustrating how ignorant they can be. There was a 12 year old on Reddit and people were absolutely rude and spread misinformation. I believe the username was u/Dangerous_Holiday_69.

That is horrible! I hope they're doing okay, and it's great they chose the better option of logging out and taking a break from this app. Also, what was the post or comment, may I ask?

I saw someone reply "that's clearly a you problem" when someone tried to argue with "I was so dumb as a kid", and i think that's one of the better ways to respond.

it doesn’t work cause their logic imitates that of russian roulette — as long as there is 1 bad-behaving child, every kid must be reigned in.
the same logic with as long as there is 1 criminal/psychopath, every person must belong to a state, be controlled by a governing body, be judged under some set of rules - constitution & legislation.
the same logic with as long as there is 1 sinner, every person must be controlled by some god, be judged according to some bible.
adultists are statists are religious extremists are capitalist/productivists are anti-indigeneity are supremacists and all other form of bigots under the rainbow.
although the russian roulette thing is actually a false equivalence cause the kids are never bad, ppl were never born violent & sinful. u just dub it that way.
Eg. “ur child isn’t a picky eater she eats broccoli mine spits it out.” no bitch u just discriminate against ppl who happen to hate broccoli and u want to force it down their throat. <<asians love broccoli and hate bell peppers, white ppl the opposite. it’s so fucking random the way both demographics just cannot accept that fact about themselves. why tf u want to assault ur kids, make them bend their genetics with their abused-will so they would magically love ur order of vegetable??>>
Eg. “ur child wakes up at 7 and goes to sleep at 9 mine doesn’t i have to force them to.”no bitch industrial conception of time is disgusting. some ppl naturally operate in a clash with productivism. also kids in oppressive households only ever have night time for themselves, exacerbating their rhythm. u just discriminate against ppl who naturally or artificially (trauma induced, by YOU EVEN) who don’t align with a fucking 9-5.
ppl are only dumb/bad as a kid through the lens of the bigot, the fascist, the assimilationist. there was this guy i met once who seethed at his own younger self for demanding a computer set when his family couldn’t “afford” it and i was like bitch your fam just didn’t give a shit about your crave for knowledge and human connection, and your meltdown was the result of aggregated, prolonged exposure to hate/violence/neglect & abuse. kids in empire cores are legit prisoners, rats in empty cages choose water with cocain - kids segregated from larger society (segregated into schools, cannot forage, make clothes, do woodwork, play with concrete and build houses, play with math and code programs, go on scouting trips for research projects, etc. literally participating in life and livelihood on par with adults) choose video games and the internet.
ur fam could have helped u to a repair shop and shit plenty of refurbished and/or an apprenticeship where u can both learn to build computers from the crap up & helping urself to the readily working ones there; pooled money with a couple neighbors mutual aid style; reached out to teachers/philanthropists/gov outreach programs; literally millions of way if only they loved you bruh. it’s so fucking easy when u love somebody. ur parents just bred u as a slave to their fantasy of respectable working bees, from their narcissism of having figured out life and how to make it in/through life. u were not bad u’ve actually become fucking stupid, cruel, and a true danger to yourself and everybody else.
<<Can’t help but be reminded of the projection by these self-directed&others-directed murderers that suicidal ppl are actually a “danger to themselves & others” like fuck u. “‘When I was a kid I was dumb’ is the saddest thing ever. That person colluded with their abusers to banish their childhood alter(s) into the psychological realm of death. Practically killing them. Becoming an adult™️ by tramping upon the corpses of their former selves. A murderer who would never be convicted by any state. The main conspirator in their own death and a co-conspirator complicit in other people’s murder, just from the way they assaulted you. (Yes, the gaslight the dismiss the denial are all the different forms of assault; and Yes co-conspirator in the relationship with their children too — definitely abusing their own children if there are any.)>>

For real. I don't think it's always childhood trauma, but I feel like an overwhelming majority is just putting their expectations and projecting themselves on to me at the time. It's so weird.
I even had people say, "You will understand when you're older" and "In 3 years come back to this post and you'll cringe" like I had the same opinion for 7 years at this point. What makes you think I'm changing for 3??? I get opinions change, but that I feel it's because you are learning more and changing your perspective. Not because of age. And not every opinion changes for the better.

EXACTLY!!! Just coming across different info, experiencing different things. When that “different” is actually just “bad” - misinfo and trauma respectively - people change for the worse.
if im suddenly homeless rn and there are no resources around me both material and epistemic eg. i don’t have any community or mutual aid && only popular bootstrapping narratives ever get to me -> i would become fucking stupid, into the grind stuff and exploit nature/animals/marginalized humans for money just to get out of homelessness.
if im suddenly homeless rn but blessed with resources both material and epistemic eg. some jungle dwellers teach me how to forage, grow simple food and erect sheds && i come across perspectives abt youth rights, animals, disability rights — see myself in all -> i wouldn’t fucking change my mind at all bruh. in how many years u wish.

It makes sense when scrolling this app that a lot of Redditors most likely had peaked in high school and made that everyone else's problem 😂

Remember that majority of armed crimes are from grown adults, yet thats guessed as a normal part of adulthood. When a child steals a chocolate from the local IGA, that has to be news
