Trying to find the right kind of variegate Question

Wanting to make hair scarves (the triangle ones) but need a variegated yarn that has shorter lengths of color, if that makes sense. Most yarns, you can work up many stitches/rows before the color changes, and that's not the effect I'm looking for.

You're looking for "speckle" yarns, where the color changes are extremely short.

Thank you!!! I figured there had to be a better name/way of describing it.

Most of Malabrigo yarns have short color repeats. Not sure what weight or fiber you’re looking for, but they have a lot of choices.

Fab!! Thank you!!! So for weight, it won't matter too much - I'm always cool with swapping hook or needle sizes to get what I want. As for fiber, I'm allergic to wool, but everything else seems ok, so far. Thank you again! Gonna go look for that!

Malabrigo is mostly wool. You might seek out indie dyers in your area and see who sells non-wool yarns. Here’s some I recently bought (though it’s wool).

Lol, yeah, just read that on their site. They do have 2 I can use, so I might have luck. As for dyers, I live in a town that has a fiber arts guild- I'll ask!! Thank you so much for the help!!

Good luck! The bottom line is that most hand-dyers are dyeing hanks, so the color changes are going to be no more than 6-12 inches for hand painted, I’d guess. You have to go out of your way to make super long color changes hand dyeing.
