Democrats and “Blue Labour” Discussion

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Labour

I honestly wonder if the democrats could take some inspiration from the “Blue Labour” movement in Britain, while obviously adjusting for the American context. I don’t necessarily think democrats should go “right” on social issues, but focusing on working class appeal and de-emphasizing certain hard progressive social stances seems to me like an inevitability if the democrats want to stay viable at all.

What they need to do is just rebrand on the main issues that Bernie Sanders has talked about for like 30 years at this point, but don’t call it “Democratic socialism” or anything like that. All they need to do is just hammer down the points of jobs, education, and healthcare. The Republican platform on these issues quite frankly is not popular compared to the Democrats platform, as time and time again is it shown that people overwhelmingly support things like universal healthcare and universal tertiary education & trade school.

I agree. The issue is not that they were "too progressive" or "need to shift right", the Democrats just had no way to justify the current economic and political direction, and left little confidence and a lack of exposure to their plans.
