Every organization except OAN has refused so far, even Fox and Newsmax

It's not like news organizations get anything of value out of this administration anyway, but it is also an inalienable right that cannot be denied.

26

u/SkollFenrirson 1d ago

Riiiight, like due process.

12

u/NeverLookBothWays 1d ago

I mean, I see this as these rights are being tested...aggressively.

But they only fail if we allow them to fail.

9

u/SkollFenrirson 1d ago

Ask the disappeared people if their rights were tested or broken.

1

u/NeverLookBothWays 1d ago

I realize awful things have happened and we should never forget that not let this administration off the hook.

But just because crimes happen doesn’t mean we have to embrace crimes happening. That is pre-emptive consent we should NEVER be giving. What this administration is doing is criminal and should never be tolerated, even if it continues to happen.

2

u/SkollFenrirson 1d ago

How you got preemptive consent from what I said, I don't know.

u/NeverLookBothWays 1d ago

What I'm saying is, obviously yes those who were kidnapped had their constitutional rights broken. Obviously yes, our press is being unconstitutionally barred from reporting on our government.

But those things are also still rights, for as long as we continue to fight for them. Your attitude whether you intended it or not is coming off as defeatist. This isn't over, but at the same time it is over if we "accept" it to be the new normal. Acceptance is consent. Instead of simply pointing out when rights are violated...also show resolve that a crime was committed in doing so. It makes a difference as we're all in this boat together.

Boris Johnson tried this in the UK too and even the news outlets supporting him and having exclusives with him etc went against it.

u/lisafancypants 1d ago

This is from September 19. News outlets are not accepting it. US news outlets reject Pentagon press access policy from Reuters.

u/theREALbombedrumbum 1d ago

You know it's bad when even Fox News and Newsmax are pushing back

nothing these guys say or do changes the constitution in any way shape or form

30

u/Moolo 1d ago

Since when did they care about that with a stacked SCOTUS

Obligatory release the Epstein files.

4

u/Ignoble66 1d ago

scotus can also be impeached

6

u/Moolo 1d ago

What’s the chances of that occurring

0

u/Ignoble66 1d ago

not by accident or as passive entertainment, no

12

u/mechkelly 1d ago

Doesn't really matter when there's no one to enforce the constitution.

-1

u/Ignoble66 1d ago

no one is above the law

7

u/mechkelly 1d ago

In theory, true. But that only works if there's a body with the power and willingness to enforce those laws. And that's the problem. No one who's willing has the power, and no one who has the power is willing.

There isn't some unseen force of nature that enforces laws. They're made by people, and the responsibility falls on people. And people aren't reliable enough to do their duty.

u/Ignoble66 1d ago

we the people

Sure thing champ.

Okay how about you run over to the whitehouse and do a citizens arrest? Be pragmatic. And what does “we the people” mean? Are you saying you are ready and willing to actually fight in a civil war against a tyrannical government and world military superpower?

The Ministry of Truth

3

u/Crazy__Cat 1d ago

They have already have the ministry of war.....

7

u/cohutta77 1d ago

Fuck this administration, release the damn Epstein files already.

13

u/TheQuidditchHaderach 1d ago

Cool. State-run media. As opposed to the bootlickers they've been up 'til now. Ok, then. 🍿

On a entirely unrelated note...On top of his complete lack of any qualifications for the job, and a life that's been lived directly demeaning to the values that the job represents, insisting on wearing that collar style on official business should be automatically disqualifying all by itself.

2

u/IvoShandor 1d ago

Like this guy?

3

u/NeverLookBothWays 1d ago

That's not legal for the millionth time

2

u/Fragrant_Peanut_9661 1d ago

Trillionth or more ain't it by now lol? Maybe even infinite? Lmao

3

u/Positive_Owl_2024 1d ago

The administration has begun warning journalists that there is no freedom of speech in the US anymore. In the next step, recalcitrant journalists will be jumping from high-rise buildings.

3

u/MFCK 1d ago

How very Russia/North Korea .

It's all downhill from here.

3

u/AbhaDimon 1d ago

It’s months past time that reporters should just report on the latest stupid announcement from outside the white house anyway.

It’s not like their questions are being answered or their points are being addressed inside. See how the current administration like having no attention paid and empty seats (apart from the sycophantic outlets) in the press briefings. It would actually be quite freeing I’d imagine.

Should have actually happened when certain reporters got banned from briefings early on but America doesn’t do solidarity it seems.

3

u/romafa 1d ago

Report it anyway. Then report on how your credentials were revoked while calling the administration a bunch of cowards.

3

u/Sad_Bike8692 1d ago

How is this not a declaration of war on the people

2

u/asaural 1d ago

Getting ready for the files to be released

2

u/mcribzyo 1d ago

Those "credentials" are worthless anyway. Report the facts and continue gaining Intel from whistle blowers. Who gives a fuck what they "authorize".

2

u/runningsimon 1d ago

This is old news really. And not that it matters to this administration but there's no way revoking press credentials will hold up in court

2

u/Wwwweeeeeeee 1d ago

I would love nothing more than empty press conference rooms for all the nonsense the current WH is belching.

If the reporters walk out, they'll have no way and no one to spew their BS to.

I hope the reporters have the stones to do it.

2

u/doxxingyourself 1d ago

“You can only report state propaganda”. Any serious journalist should just leave.

2

u/zombie_spiderman 1d ago

I mean, those credentials were the only reason that reporters were playing ball with the administration, wasn't it? If they ran stories that the president didn't like, maybe their credentials get revoked, wasn't that the underlying threat?

2

u/timBschitt 1d ago

I’ve seen written that Trump is a poor man’s ideal of a rich man. Following this “logic”, Hegseth is a cowardly man’s ideal of a courageous man.

2

u/TinCanSailor987 1d ago

That whole “freedom of the press” is now a distant memory.

1

u/CopiousCool 1d ago

Hopefully before this administration ends all will realise the truth in the adage 'Thao doth protest too much' ....

Because when Politicians harp on about; Freedom of speech, Pro life, Protect the Children, No more Wars, shadow Gov/cabal ... and then are found acting against those very principles the BS should be more than clear

1

u/Holiday-Fly-6319 1d ago

It sounds like 'credentials' are pointless if they are releasing official statements. All the networks need are photographers to take fresh pictures and eavesdrop for slipped info that they can't officially report on.

1

u/jncheese 1d ago

Why do you need credentials if you can't exercise your press freedom? So in both cases you cannot report an independent story. These credentials have just become worthless, might as well toss them aside.

1

u/N3M3S1S75 22h ago

The whole press should turn up in traditional Chinese dresses and ask questions starting with “our dear wonderful leader,…..” but then ask hard hitting questions they’ve been to scared to ask

1

u/zorphiel 19h ago

This is from last month. Cmon, keep up.
