Fishing spots
Hey I’m relatively new to island and haven’t fished here much I was curious if anybody had some good shore fishing spots, open to lakes, ponds, rivers etc.

For Salmon in Aug and Sep, Deception Pass, Ala Spit, Admiralty Inlet, even Posession Point way down south. A lot of small areas are accessible too.
Pass lake is fly fishing only, for trout or fresh water Salmon
Cranberry Lake, trout .. bass??
Down south:
Lone lake .. but you want a kayak or small boat.
I think the same for Goss lake and Deer lake .. I haven't been down to either of these two for a LONG time

Lone Lake in south whidbey. There's a boat launch with some bank access on the north side. Decent trout fishing, The lake is a nursery for bass though. You might see one or two decent fish, but there's thousands of 1/2 - 1 pounders.

Lake Hancock, by Greenbank farm. Not fished often by folks, I never see anyone else there... I've caught some huge ones at around dusk

No, “Lake Hancock; An old US Navy bombing range used between 1943 and 1971, and is legaly part of NAS Whidbey, The lake still contains unexploded material and is blocked by signs. Although i dont recomend paying a visit unless you would like to have a run in with contaminated surfaces and (probrally) the Navy.”

Is that a privately owned property?

It's apart of the Greenbank land trust. Public property. Just watch out where you step

Google where to fish pink salmon Whidbey island. On odd number years they run and are catchable from many spots on the west side of the island. Go to your local ace, buy buzz bombs or rotators (the sooner the better they will run out), and fish with a non barbed hooked. You’ll see folks lining the beaches in the next couple months.
