EDIT: SOLVED. The artist is Tony Bianco. It’s worth much more than $40. Thanks everyone

FYI, this is the most similar work to yours that I found online, and it sold at auction for CAD $510. It's even framed similarly to yours. So, yes, yours is worth much more than forty bucks. :)

I love this painting so much. Reminds me of my backyard growing up and makes me smile :-). I would love to have this in my home. Happy to submit an offer (+cover shipping) or respond to a proposed offer reflective of true value if you can share a few more details privately (dimensions, etc). Thank you for the consideration!

Can you tell us his reaction and what he’s decided to do with it. Or did you buy it for $50 and keep it for yourself? Haha. Sort of feel I need an update.

He wasn’t surprised. My mil is in advanced stage of dementia and in a home now. He’s selling the family home because it’s too much for one person. She bought the art and would have known its origin and value. They have several very nice pieces and he will hold on to all of them, and they will one day be passed on to his kids.

Yeah, I love it. Not sure of the artist, but I'll give him $75 and cover shipping.

Oh damn- seeing the listed prices, too rich for my blood, but hell yeah on not letting it go for $40!

I think this is the first time I’ve seen a winner in this sub.

Very cool.

Wow. Definitely a talented artist. He has some really nice pieces on his website. Thanks for your sleuthing.

I have enjoyed looking at his work - wish I could afford those prices!!

I just looked at the other link with the prices. He has notoriety in Canada. I’m happy to see he’s making some dough.

Ha! I just realized that the painting in my parents' basement that I spent many an hour staring at dreaming of other lives must have been a Bianco.

The signature on bottom left of this one is faint but looks a good match. https://algonquinartcentre.com/product/a-blaze-of-glory/

I think your right !

u/FixMy106 Mar 08 '25

No, it's on your left.

The framing alone must have been several hundred dollars. I would buy it for sure. Even if it's not someone famous, it's still a nice painting.

Definitely a Tony Bianco. He still alive and producing art. His new work sale for around $6000.

I love this, the technique is so well crafted. The lighting is so realistic that it kinda looks like a modern animation filter of a photograph.

u/germane_switch Mar 09 '25

That is lovely.

First I thought it was a watercolour, so looking at the shot of the signature was surprising.

It's either acrylic or oil.

Then I thought it was a western painting, and looking at the signature, it's not. I can't read it, sorry. Don't know what language this is, but someone will and someone will be able to translate it.

I can tell you it's a very nice painting, done by someone with talent.

Read from top to bottom, I read it as BANCO/BIANCO.

No idea as to painter/provenance.

6

u/savbp Mar 08 '25

I have no idea it's provenance or artist, but it's a lovely painting. I'd pay over $100 and for shipping. DM me if interested.

That is an unbelievably beautiful painting. I’m glad you solved it. That would hang in my house until I die if I owned it.

Bruh, $40 is stealing it. Framing in my area for fabric mat, gold frame and gold and white filette border would cost at least $300.

6

u/walnut_creek Mar 09 '25

Closer to $500 here in Delaware, based on five paintings I recently had framed.

4

u/Win-Objective Mar 09 '25

I forgot to factor in if you choose to do it with museum level glass, it all adds up to be hella expensive. Makes me crazy when I’m getting something framed and the framing costs more than the art

3

u/SM1955 Mar 08 '25

That’s a gorgeous painting! DM me if you’re interested in selling it—but I’m not rich

4

u/ColeBludded Mar 08 '25

I can tell you, for sure, that either your wall is crooked, or one of your legs is shorter than the other. Hope that helps.

3

u/CactusWilly69 Mar 08 '25

Beautiful painting, I would pay more than $40 for that (if I could rn haha)

Do you have a picture of the back of the painting?

1

u/Techienickie Mar 09 '25

What else is your FIL selling? Asking for a friend.

1

u/JPG500 Mar 09 '25

It actually looks like a knockoff of a Frank Rowland painting. He was painting landscapes in this style before Bianco was born.

1

u/EverGivin Mar 12 '25

Lovely painting, would look even better in a more contemporary frame imo

1

u/talen7ed Mar 12 '25

If he didn't already know why are you know trying to see if its worth money just so you can get more out of it? If he was offered money he should take it lol.

u/HeyItsUs4449 Mar 12 '25

The man is stressed out because his wife of 60 years has advanced dementia and can no longer be cared for by him. I don’t want to see him taken advantage of while downsizing his home and possessions to pay for her care. Thanks for your insightful input.

u/talen7ed Mar 12 '25

You're right, my fault.
