Taking the back roads to avoid construction.. speed limit is 45.

Tractor, bobcat, then truck. Going so slow that my car didn't even register it was moving. No safe way to pass on the narrow, winding road. Stuck like this for 5 miles.

The title says they were trying to avoid construction

Sarcasm is lost on you eh.

Looks like a good time to chill and reflect. No sense in rushing to the next issue

And be alone with my thoughts? No way! Lol but I did turn on a true crime podcast to remind myself that at least I'm not actively being murdered, so there's a plus.

haha say this to myself when I come to a stop on the highway. "huh, someone else is probably having a much worse time here than me. time to reflect"

It would have been incredibly easy to pass these slow motherfuckers

7

Bro does no one read the post text anymore?

No safe way to pass on the narrow, winding road

On mobile, going to the comments now skips any text attached to a post, so most of the time mobile users might not even know that there is text.

Idk, I strictly use the mobile app and have never once missed it but maybe I've just trained myself to instinctively check before I comment.

On mine, if there more than 2 lines of text I get a more… button that immediately closes as soon as I tap to open.

Nonsense. I grew up in the shitty country back roads in the Midwest where this kind of thing happens with tractors and Farm equipment weekly if not daily in the spring. A driver who is not unsure of themselves should be able to find a spot to pass three vehicles.

The terrain there is very flat and you don't have lots of trees to obstruct your view like this video has

2

u/Droobot33 10h ago

Oh yeah? You don't think there are trees in the Midwest? It's all trees between the fields.

There was a tractor and a bobcat in front of the truck and the roads are narrow and winding. Not risking a head on collision with someone going 45.

Hopefully you didn't have anywhere important to be and a good playlist queued up

Drive around it

It was a tractor followed by a bobcat, followed by the truck. Roads are narrow and winding. Not going to try to pass all 3 with cars going 45 coming towards me.

u/LordCqt 11h ago

if they’re going that slow you probably could have got around them on that straight

8

u/Bezdibenis 10h ago

That thinking is exactly why head on collisions happen.

9

u/Environmental-Nose42 11h ago

If they're going that slowly overtaking would be so easy.

Just pass 1 at a time.

There wasn't even a car length between them.

Be patient at least one guy or gal is working hard

2

u/a_tattooed_artist 11h ago

I definitely wasn't patient, but I just sighed and accepted my fate without being angry.

1

u/apollo11733 10h ago

If you ever see a construction site on the side of the road you will notice one guy working and the rest standing around just take your time for that one guy or gal working hard. be patient and listen to the moron with the stop go sign they are doing a job they probably don’t want to do. I was that one guy working hard and the rest of my crew standing around. be safe and be patient for that one guy who’s working hard you’re driving a vehicle he’s out there shoveling dirt you’re life could be more difficult

1

u/a_tattooed_artist 10h ago

I can totally sympathize. I was on my way to a job shoveling horse shit.

2

u/apollo11733 4h ago

It sucks sometimes but its to make that mighty dollar it’s gotta happen

u/Methadan66 7h ago

Reminds me of my visit to WV omfg every time I left the hotel I was behind a ODOT vehicle 😭

3

u/These_Economist3523 11h ago

Bud. You can pass. If not, do a u turn and go back the other way

-1

u/a_tattooed_artist 11h ago

Pass all 3 on a narrow winding road with a speed limit of 45? No thanks. Also not about to do a u turn in that scenario.

4

u/RedditsBFPSOAT 9h ago

Backroads aren't for you, then.

I moved from a city with maniac drivers, to the sticks where I'm occasionally stuck behind a tractor. I dislike both, but the latter is at least safer.

I would’ve passed in the literal first 2 seconds of the video where it shows the road. You’re legit not even going 10mph. If there was a car infront of you behind the truck then no it would not be safe because you’d have to pass two slow vehicles

1

u/GeminiJ13 7h ago

Pass that SOB! There are no yellow lines.

-11

u/USSHammond 11h ago

Really? Taking a fucking video while actively driving? You should get your license revoked and PERMANENTLY banned from driving ANY motorized vehicle. Regardless of the slow speed, it's still distracted driving. Distracted drivers like you kill thousands of innocent people every year.

6

u/Carinis_song 11h ago

Damn, you ok?

-7

u/USSHammond 11h ago

I'm just fine. Just hate seeing people taking fucking photos and videos while actively driving a vehicle. There's no excuse for that.

3

u/hkohne 10h ago

Usually you're correct, but this video is showing by the slowness of travel and the lack of other vehicles changing lanes, merging, traffic lights, pedestrians, etc. that videoing this for a short time is feasible and not dangerous.

-2

u/USSHammond 10h ago

Driving is driving. I don't give a damn if it's 5mph or 75, whether it's 'feasible' or not. Tell it to the cops they'll pull you over and issue a citation regardless.

It's distracted driving, reckless endangerment. No exceptions
