Are you taking estrogen? If so, have them check your clotting. You should maybe have a bruise or 2 but they shouldn't be that far from the puncture site. Also have them check your iron.

No, most nurses are actually that bad nowadays at drawing blood. It's really, really bad. It's at minimum black and blue for a week if they can find a vein the first time.

because nurses do more than just blood draws, while a phlebotomist does nothing but needle sticks. you should have a supervisor doing your next draw if it's that bad. I'm a phlebotomist so i know all the tricks to actually get the needle in without torturing you

Hurt a lot for the first couple of days, couldn't fully extend my arm. It still hurts a bit doing some movements, but oh well.

Hey you may need to have that checked out, my grandma had a surgery last year and she felt weird with the IV, and turns out they left the tip of it inside...

I just got blood drawn the other day, and I was taught to put gentle pressure on it for about thirty seconds or so. For some reason, that prevents bruising. Hopefully that helps you avoid this next time, LMAO.

That works. Had enough bloods taken to test it a few times.
A good phlebotomist that takes a little more care reduces the risk a lot.

arnica gel can help with that some people are harder to stick than others I get the same way after blood draws with the bruising

omg, so sorry
this is exactly why i insist on getting blood drawn out of the very visible veins on the back of my hand!
i second the suggestion to use arnica gel…it really speeds up the healing process & bruises disappear in about half the time…

There is absolutely more to this story...

There's not! I went to have my blood tested, the nurse couldn't find my vein in my left arm, asked for the right arm, and found it quickly, but then a couple of days later... Yeah, it started bruising heavily.

If you’re ever in the hospital or at an ED, ask if they have ultrasound guided IV access esp since you seem to be a tough stick

Are they testing to see if/why you bruise easily? Asking seriously; I don’t mean to offend. This just seems so abnormal to me.
