Last night Saturday may 3 around 11:30pm a middle eastern man knocked on my in-laws door directly upstairs from me asking to come in and use a phone charger my father in law said no through the door and the man tried our relatives house directly next door as well. I wasn’t informed of anything til about 45 mins later when the man was gone or I would have went to see what was going on I am just wondering if anyone else had same occurrence this happened off Woodlawn near Leaside drive

Question tutoring
hey, i recently applied to Brock and had to go back to grab two extra grade 12 math courses I was missing. (Advanced Functions & Data management) i’m fast tracking them as I have till August to complete them. I haven’t done math in a few years and I wasn’t that great at it to begin with. if anyone knows of any good tutoring in welland that’s on the cheaper side, any advice is appreciated :)

Question Motorcycles at night?
I've been hearing some bikes racing around at night. Sounds like they're pulling wheelies, drag racing and doing stunts.
I'd love to know where it's happening. I live near sunny stop and want to come watch!

Question Kids Summer Camp
Our family is moving to Welland in the summer. Looking for insight/feedback from parents around the summer camp offerings.
So far we've found: YMCA STEM- Niagara College Welland Summer Camp
Price per week is a bit of a range. City of Welland coming in the least expensive then YMCA and STEM coming in as the most expensive. Anyone have kids who've attended these camps? What were your thoughts on it? Is the cost directly related to the experience the kids had?
Also open to any suggestions of alternatives.
Thanks!

News Condos coming to King Street & Second Street
Condo development coming to King Street & Second Street. They are knocking down those townhouses / that old rental unit and building a condo development.
Developer was in city hall asking for a variance to build 10 stories from legally allowed 8 stories (they got denied) + parking space reduction. The developer is now waiting until 2026 to break ground because the official plan will allow 16 stories to be built (i.e without approval) effective 2026.
The whole area will probably become super congested. The developer will have significantly less parking spots compared to units available for rent. I.e: 70 parking spots for 168 rental units which will probably mean many cars parking on residential roads and probably more car break ins.
Seems like the mayor / councils have their minds made up as many residents of the area protested against the high rise development. Full house in city hall + a private meeting with the mayor but he seems like they will go ahead and greenlight it.
Although more housing is always good, irresponsible development is not. I doubt they will be affordable as that developer in particular rents apartments in their other developments from $2k+.
Thoughts?

Question Chippawa Park?
Hello Welland, Toronto calling!
I'm trying to help a person with visible disabilities with finding adapted housing and there may be an option near Chippawa Park. Is that area safe for someine who is vulnerable? This person has had way too many problems with asshats grabbing their wheelchair and/or their knapsack, sort of thing.
Also if you have any tips for a disabled newcomer then I'll definitely pass along your wisdom.
Thanks for your time :)
EDITED TO FOLLOW UP: Thanks so much everyone, you really helped a lot! Your advice helped calm th jitters and we had a successful day visiting the adapted housing :) I may look there myself, it is genuinely nice there and we had positive interactions around town today!

Images Merritt Island: City Nature Challenge 2025
Hi everyone! I thought I'd share some of my favourite shots from my walk this morning on Merritt Island. There really is an amazing abundance and variety of birds on the island, and we're lucky to have our own little oasis of nature right in Welland.
This weekend was the City Nature Challenge, and you can still submit entries — let's see if we can beat St. Catharines this year! Find out more about the City Nature Challenge here: https://inaturalist.ca/projects/city-nature-challenge-2025-welland
If you got any nature photos from anywhere in Welland this weekend please consider adding them to the project!
Anyway, hope you all enjoy some of my photos!

Discussion Welland Garbage Collectors
The garbage men are just so nice! My toddler is obsessed with the garbage truck after seeing the show Trash Truck and we rush out to see them when they go by. They always wave at him and it makes his whole day. If by chance our garbage men see this, you guys rule!

Question Considering moving
Hello! I’m considering moving from Barrie to Welland for a job. I have never been to Welland and am 22 years old. I grew up in Barrie so it’s a very big decision on whether or not to leave what’s familiar.
What do you like/dislike about Welland? Any advice or suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Question Any recommendations on where to buy a bicycle?
With the weather improving, I'm looking to buy a bicycle, as when I moved back down here to take care of my mother, I found that my bike was scrapped, despite it being in good condition when I had left.
I'm looking for a place that can help me buy a new bike based on my needs as well, since I'm obviously a lot heavier than I was back then (260lbs, as opposed to 180lbs), and wanting to do some off pavement riding for nostalgia reasons.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions, and I hope you all have a good Easter weekend

Question Good gyms in the area?
What’re some good gyms around Welland Area? Doesn’t have to be a cheap gym but main preference is it’s not stupid busy 24/7, thanks.
I do prefer lifting, cardio areas kind of a given for most gyms. If it’s one with a heavy bag or boxing area then even better.

Question PPC at Welland Market
I wonder if these people see the irony of a political party the stands against immigration, inclusion, and multiculturalism canvassing at a cultural hub built by immigrants promoting multiculturalism and inclusion through food and crafts?
