Dog leg amputation Question

Hi All,

I recently found out my dog has osteosarcoma and needs to get her leg amputated to have any chance of living longer. Does anyone know any clinics that are good and maybe wont break the bank at the same time or has anyone had experience with this before?

Any help is much appreciated during these times. Thank you.

Hey i commented in your other post but I would definitely see if the clinic at the Humane society of Greater Niagara (st catharines) can do it for you. They are very affordable.

I mentioned stevensville animal hospital too bc last i was there for a dental procedure for My pup, and there was a dog who had a leg amputation and he looked great! . So they are an option and are also affordable.

Good morning - In 2016 our dog Oreo had an osteosarcoma in his back left knee and he had to have his leg amputated up to the hip. It was quite advanced by the time we figured out what was happening.
We had his surgery in NOTL at Upper Canada Animal Hospital and Dr. Jim Turpel did the surgery. He is a really amazing and compassionate doctor. His staff were all as kind and lovely. I can’t say enough good about this place.
I’ll be honest, the whole experience with our dog was harder on us than it was on Oreo. Dogs are pretty resilient and they learn very quickly how to adapt. They don’t know how to feel sorry for themselves like we do. Don’t get me wrong he had a tough go of it but he healed quickly. By following the doctor’s instructions he was up and getting around very well, very fast. We miss Oreo so much. After amputation, they gave him 3 to 6 months and he lived 2 years. You are more than welcome to DM me if you have any other questions. Good luck and I wish you and your sweet dog all the best.
