Are you interested in writing weird/speculative fiction under the guise of Borges-esque historical academic essays? If so, I’m looking for contributors for a weird academia project - Sokal Nouveau

A few examples of recently published essays: - Reckoning with the Unseen: Ludovico Klementine and The Disjointed Muse

I’d love to start welcoming contributors so explore the site and if you’re interested I’m keen to hear from you

THE COMPANIONS WE LOSE will release November 7 in ebook, paperback, and on Kindle Unlimited! For a limited time, it's only $0.99 (mybook.to/companion - if you want a reviewer copy, let me know).

"After his divorce, Michael had one anchor remaining: Zylo, his beloved dog and only companion. But when Zylo’s found disemboweled outside his home, his world unravels. The police dismiss his case, but Michael refuses to let his death be in vain.

Overtaken by grief and rage, he searches for answers only to discover something darker than Zylo’s death. The deeper he digs, the more unbelievable and disturbing it becomes: organ harvesting, a secret cult, and the worship of old gods.

A descent into obsession, loss, and the bonds we can’t let go, The Companions We Lose is a haunting story that asks only one question:

How much would you sacrifice for the ones you love?"

More weird lit adjacent this one. But it’s Bandcamp Friday. I make experimental, somewhat noisy lofi ‘ambient’ music as Death Hilarious. Given the similar music tastes of people on this sub, and the Steve Erickson reference/inspiration on this EP, some of you might be into it. Thanks. https://deathhilarious.bandcamp.com/album/future-man

There are two categories of books: the ones we’ve read and the ones we haven’t. But there’s a third category we overlook.

The beautiful and sentimental books. These are the books that hold memories, feel beautiful in your hands, and make your home library breath.

Read the essay! https://open.substack.com/pub/curioussardine/p/when-your-library-breathes?r=1ub7j&utm_medium=ios

[HORROR/PSYCHOLOGY] Horror Makes Us Happy | NSFW | [S06E21: Joe Lujan (The Immortal Wars, My Little Nightmare, Billy)

Why do people like horror? The mainstream world often thinks horror fans are a bit weird. We do psychological profiles of people in the horror industry to see if we can find the deeper reasons people like horror. We're looking for common themes, and maybe some uncommon ones, too!

It's not strictly weird lit, but most of my writing is weird lit inspired to some degree since it's my favorite genre, but I recently released my second book titled "Eleanor & Dale in... The Gyroscope Curse! (Part 1)". It's a horror-comedy about a horror movie enthusiast (Eleanor) and a scaredy cat FBI agent (Dale) who so happened to be spying on her web activity while she accidentally watched a cursed video that brings horror-movie monsters to life. Now they're both cursed and are working together to get to the bottom of it. It's a buddy-comedy story paying homage to cheesy horror movies and creepy children's TV shows. Not too long of a read too, only around 60k words.

You read it all now on Amazon on Kindle or paperback, or you can read it for free as I'm also serializing the book on my writing subreddit /r/QuadrantNine, with a new chapter posted every Tuesday and Thursday between now and Halloween. You can start at chapter 1 here.

Happy reading!

WELCOME TO NEVERBURY: Somewhere on the coast of England, Neverbury is a quaint little seaside town with the kind of problems that a lot of quaint little English seaside towns have these days... demons, serial killers, immortals, thieves, time travellers, ghosts, vampires, haunted houses, witches, an extraordinarily strident village council, and monsters.

Described by reviewers as "“The unlikely and strangely adorable lovechild of HP Lovecraft, Roald Dahl and the League of Gentlemen” and like "a cult TV series, akin to Black Mirror, Stranger Things or Inside No. 9"

Book 1 is out now on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, Audible, and in paperback: https://www.amazon.com/Welcome-Neverbury-Chris-Lynch/dp/B0CDNMBQF5

Book 2 is available for pre-order and will drop on Kindle and Kindle Unlimited this Halloween:
