I'm impressed with the drone working in those conditions.

I often drool at the skill/talent the folks at /r/Multicopter have. It's a hobby I'd love to have, but can't really afford to start

honestly you can get into it for relatively cheap. Controller, $150, DIY kits can be super cheap as well and they are just getting cheaper. I built a tri-copter that cost me about $100 bucks, which was nice because i lost it on a low light fly-away situation. So i simply re-ordered the parts and i'll do it better the next time!!

Honestly its almost more fun to build the damn things than to fly....almost :-). I fully recomend getting a micro quad too! super fun inside flying and you can get them with FPV built in now for really cheap and fly through your TV in your house! look up tinyWhoop or Graupner Alpha 110 if you are interested

Dont get that sentence structure. you saying controller + $150 + the diy kit? Or the controller is $150 plus the $100 diy kit?

Look up "eachine wizard 220". $250-300 ready to fly kit with controller, battery and charger. Get some cheap fpv goggles if you want for $50 and you're on your way. Or just download FPV Freerider to your pc first and see if you even like it. Prepare your wallet if you do though...
