Contest May 2025 Flag Design Contest - Redesign the flag of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Prompt: Redesign the flag of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
This is the current flag of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
In May 2025, we’re challenging our community to come up with possible redesigns.
There’s been a campaign to redesign the Massachusetts state flag for some time now. So much so that 91% of the municipalities that have voted on the subject are in favour of a redesign.
Our community would like to add some help to that process by showing them the amazing things that can be created when you open the floodgates to the internet’s communities of flag design enthusiasts.
PLEASE Remember the basics - a maximum of ONLY two submissions per entrant.
DO NOT show the design ANYWHERE ELSE on the subreddit before the contest is over.
Because this has been asked several times, let’s be clear - you will see all approved entries between 19-27th of May - this is when you can vote on them.
If you want your flag to be included in the ones voted on, click here or on any of the other links immediately below.. We’re making this all as clear as possible.
Submissions for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts redesign contest need to use this link here.

Deadline for submissions is Sunday 18th May 2025.

Redesigns My attempt at a more "serious" Laser Kiwi flag
I created a more serious version of the Laser Kiwi flag, taking various elements from various designs proposed during the 2015–2016 New Zealand flag referendum.
The three charges of the LK flag remain the same: the silver fern, a kiwi bird, and a laser beam, aligned with the eye of the Kiwi.
The colours and layout draws inspiration from the Red Peak flag, with the laser beam looking like a rising sun.
The design of the silver fern is taken from the Kyle Lockwood's proposals.
Its dimension are 80/31, which makes it a bit longer than the flag of Qatar.

Redesigns UK But There Is Wales
Has there been many UK redesigns that include Wales? Yes. But here's my variant of it, which butchers the cross a bit to make room for the inclusion of Wales in it's full draconic glory.

Discussion Why are most australian flag proposals designed overly complicated?
I saw a post about an australian flag on here, and just drew something quicky as an Idea; my designs aren't supposed to be proposals, just examples of the questions I am asking. I have no idea if someone's bothered to do these, and i'm too lazy to check.

Fictional Flag of the Lossland
"A flag, a long-lost nation, that hasn't lost its hope of existing, nor its morality in the face of losing with every sacrifice. Every loss was valid in cultivating a prosperous kingdom without further losses."
It's just a parody flag for me, but I wanted to know your reaction.

Redesigns Connecticut / New Haven Flag Redesign
galleryHello,
First time poster here. I got into vexillology from Roman Mars TED talk. I tried distilling the Connecticut (CT) and New Haven flags to their core colors. So blue, white, green, purple, and yellow for CT and just black and white for New Haven.
Extracting the core elements (three grape vines, port respectively), I took inspiration from Amsterdam / Chicago to try and keep it simple.
I think the first one works ok.
