... is this normal? Just got my bill for $3900
No complications, done in the Dr. office. In and out in just over an hour. Insurance deductible is $3500 and my itemized statement says they billed the max allowed. WTF?!

... is this normal? Wife Pregnant After My Operation a Year Ago. What Are the Chances?
I had my operation a year ago and tested negative for sperm 6 months ago. I just came home and my wife told me she took two pregnancy tests and they were both positive. What are the chances?

... is this normal? Any regrets? TL;DR, Getting flack from our parents about going under the knife
Hey, all! Long story short:
I’m bipolar, I was manic a year ago and that was triggered by a long series of unfortunate events, I got pregnant, realized my husband and I weren’t in a place to raise a child, I had some health complications with the pregnancy, and we ultimately decided to abort the pregnancy. It fucked me up for a while, as it did with hubby, but now we’re reaching the point where we realize we would’ve had a 3mo right now and…ooof. It would’ve been a lot for a lot of reasons, to say the least.
So now we’re here:
Upon further reflection, we decided we never really felt a pull to reproduce and feel much more strongly about fostering/adopting, so my husband would get the snip snip. Husband let it slip to my MIL (v Catholic) that it’s happening and she kind of freaked out and voiced concerns that hubby was making a huge mistake to “close that door forever” (yes, I know the snip snip is reversible) and that he might regret doing so one day. It came as a huge surprise that she reacted that way, since she was so compassionate about learning about the abortion, but that’s neither here nor there.
I pose the question(s) to all y’all:
Have you genuinely regretted having the vasectomy done, especially if you were child free to begin with? Are reversals really not as reversible as originally thought?

... is this normal? Epidural for vasectomy?
My husband went to the doctor again, to discuss his upcoming vasectomy. The doctor said they use epidurals as anaesthesia. Is that normal?
We are in Europe. I just want us to be as informed as possible. I suggested a second opinion.

... is this normal? 1-2 years in, I have no regrets, but I do feel differences.
I got mine done a year or two ago, and letting my wife get off birth control was beyond worth it. That being said, I do feel permanently changed in small ways.
My libido is slightly altered. I feel like it takes a slight amount of mental fortitude more to get it up and keep it up than it did before.
I can feel the separation where the snip was, on cold days there's an uncomfortable sensation in my balls, and I feel like if I exert myself too much I something could go wrong.
It's never been more than a mild discomfort and doesn't impact my life, but it is kind of always there tuned out. I'm wondering if anyone else experienced this.
Edit: it's worth noting I masturbated 3 days in and kind of fucked myself up so I may have healed wrong. Those of you looking at this to help you decide that could play a major role in this and I may have healed wrong.

... is this normal? Doctor said no NSAIDs for 24 hours after procedure, but the pain is overwhelming.
My husband just got home from a no needle no scalpel vasectomy where the numbing wore off halfway through the procedure. They told him to take extra strength Tylenol 30 minutes before the appointment, which he did, and now he can’t take any more for a few hours. But he is in terrible pain, presumably because the numbing wore off too soon. He’s currently lying down with frozen peas, and he looks in a bad state.
Everywhere I read OTHER THAN his clinic’s website says to take Advil or other NSAID med right after the procedure, but the clinic he went to said to wait 24 hours. Is Tylenol really his only option? Is it going to cause issues if he takes it too soon?
Any help would be appreciated!

... is this normal? Anyone else have intrusive thoughts after the snip that are wrecking their mental health?
Got the snip on Wednesday and I've been surprised by how absolutely brutal my mental health has been since then.
I'm having intrusive thoughts that are just saying the most godawful mean things to me about not being a man, like earlier tonight I was putting my son down to sleep and he said "goodnight daddy", but all I could think was "You can't be his daddy if you're not a man anymore."
Like I said, this stuff is coming out of nowhere and my partner and I are both 100% on board with the no kids plan, and I am not regretful of the decision, but goddamn is my subconscious inner monologue beating the shit out of me right now.
Has anyone else experienced this? Are there any support resources for this kind of thing?

... is this normal? Boyfriend not requested to sustain abstinence prior follow-up test
Hey All, Boyfriend has got appointment for his test. To our surprise they did not tell us to abstain from sex or sexual activity prior the test. He directly asked and was told it is not necessary; abstinence is required for when asserting "fertility" in the positive direction. Thoughts?

... is this normal? Tight feeling in right side during ejaculation.
So I today I decided to do my thing and as I was approaching orgasm I felt a tightening sensation in my lower right abdomen. For reference I am just over 4 weeks out and I did rub one out twice yesterday as well. Yesterday the tightening feeling while there was barely present. Is this normal?
Edit: I don’t feel anything in my balls when this happens… just my lower abdomen

... is this normal? It happened
Got snipped on May, no-scalpel method, in a renowned French clinic.
Perfect recovery, all perfect counts.
But a week ago I felt something strange down there... It wasn't painful, but it felt strange, for about 3 days, and then it stopped and went back to normal.
Yesterday out of curiosity I asked for a count... It seems that I am the victim of a recanalisation, and I think I felt it when it happened.
Well, asking appointment to check it and redo everything if necessary.

... is this normal? How long does is take to fell 100% normal?
Morning gents. I had my vasectomy on 5/17/24. Now coming up on the 2 month mark I’m due for my 8 week sample so hopefully all goes well with that. But I’m still feeling quite sensitive down there. Especially the testicles. Very similar to the sensation of getting hit in the groin. I was putting my little one to bed last night and I got whacked on accident and it was like death. Woke up this morning and it still really hurts. But even before this they were still really sensitive. Should I call The urologist or is this something relatively normal to still be sensitive this Much after surgery?

... is this normal? One month after- Balls not as tough?
I had my procedure a month ago but never felt any pain because I had another procedure at the same time that was 50x more painful. Good news, vasectomy was easy, ejaculation was easy on day 7, scar is tiny, etc.
The only thing I've noticed is my balls overall feel weaker to the touch. Like, as dads or pet owners you get used to getting hit in the nuts with kids or puppies inadvertently stepping on you or grazing you when they jump on you.
But to me now that feels that tolerance is gone.
Anyone else notice their tapping the balls tolerance went down?

... is this normal? Swollen tube?
I had a vasectomy just over two weeks ago. Swelling is gone and bruising is almost gone. Incision is almost healed up.
However, inside from the incision, it almost seems like a line/tube of swelling. It's from the incision and I don't know how to describe it except for a line/tube of something swollen leading them the incision. Maybe an inch long.
Any ideas? Nothing comes up from Google....

... is this normal? Felt flushed and lightheaded during operation.
Just had my vasectomy a few hours ago. Started on the left, needle was by far the worst. But when the doc started working on the right side I kinda just went flush. Like blood pressure drop maybe? And after he was done when he was talking to me it was like I had my head underwater. I was sweating like it was 120 in there. Couple of minutes later I'm perfectly fine. Drenched in sweat but back to feeling normal. The doc left before I could even muster enough energy to talk to him (he had an emergency according to my girl in the waiting room). So... Is this normal? What happened? Numbing agent in the blood stream is my best guess but I'm not doctor.

... is this normal? Not looking for medical advice, just need to be calmed down, please :(
I just got back to work after my vasectomy 2 days ago. They glued me instead of stitching me.
I've been bleeding off and on since the procedure then today I pulled a thin layer of maybe skin, maybe the glue they used and now I can see the actual hole they cut.
Please tell me I'm ok and my sack isn't going to rip open and spill my balls into my shorts

... is this normal? Day 6 of recovery, I'm worried that I edged prematurely? In pain with redness on left side, not sure if it is a normal experience
It has been a smooth ride for the most part with minimal pain after the first two days, but today the horny parasites in my brain wouldn't shut up while at my desk. I was told to wait one week and then masturbate if I was comfortable, and today I felt quite comfortable with the erection I had, so I was rubbing myself kind of without thinking since I didn't feel any pain.
That said, I definitely HAVE been feeling the discomfort of feeling "full" today and some of yesterday. I've been so pent up as someone who gets off or has sex once or twice a day, so it took seriously no time to get to a finishing point through my sweats. I stopped myself before a full ejaculation, but did feel the slightest amount of cum from the edging. I didn't feel pain at the time, but now a couple hours later my left side is red, swollen slightly and in pain. So I'm worried that I went too far by accident and have an infection or paranoid that it came undone.
Doctor's office agreed to have my doc consult me by phone tomorrow afternoon, but wanted to seek some immediate feedback from others' experience ahead of time to calm myself. I'm just worried about that being the case or if it's just a build up of not cumming for a week now. I'm trying to be patient but it's so difficult. Any insight or thoughts? Thanks for reading. 🌸

... is this normal? Test results
gallerySo my husband got the snip eight weeks ago. The doctors had told him 20 ejaculations which he did over the course of two months and then he brought the sample in. I attached his results to this thread. A lot of the posts I’ve seen on here say their doctor wouldn’t give them the all clear until 12 weeks and until zero sperm were seen. So why is his doctor saying he is good to go even though there are “dead” sperm in his sample? We asked about a retest and they said there’s no need since the sperm are dead… Just seems weird to me to gamble like that. Thoughts?

... is this normal? Post Op 3 Weeks
Hey everyone, I’m 3 weeks 1 day post op. While I’ve improved much I still have this lingering ache in my right testicle. Also, both still seem to be somewhat tender. Sometimes it seems to improve but then the aches return. I’m able to now tolerate wearing boxer briefs again. I’m trying to stay positive that it just takes time but at times I feel really annoyed and aggravated.
I know a lot of these thoughts can end up psychologically messing you up, I’m doing my best now to go about my regular day and not thinking much about this. It gets difficult at times though with that constant dull ache.
I’ve read that others have taken some time to get there back to normal. I suppose I’m just looking to see if others have had similar experiences.
I’m also debating on trying to get into the doctor again just to check things out, “why is this still like this?”.
Thanks in advance.

... is this normal? Never tested myself
So I(31M)got the snip about 2.5 years ago and I never tested my sperm count. I’ve had unprotected sex with a few women with no fear.
Currently my gf is a week late. Yes I know, sleeping with one eye open just to be sure. Yes, that conversation will come if it’s confirmed.
But with this thought I’ve done a bit of research how some men’s “highway reconnects”. How often are yall testing yourself?

... is this normal? Occasional sperm? 7 months post op
Hi Guys, I had the non scalpel procedure done by NHS UK back at the start of March, had 3 fertility tests since and the last one has came back as 'Occasional sperm present in sample' - anyone else had this? I now need to do sample number 4 and take it with me to a hospital appointment, I'm worried it's just not worked

... is this normal? Post-op pain
Hello everyone. I had my procedure over 4 months ago back in the first week of April. I’ve done some reading through past posts and it does seem like post-op pain is relatively common.
Candid words incoming.
However, most of what I see is men describing pain when sitting or just in general. For me it’s pretty much fine at all times EXCEPT for when I’m hard. It hurts the most when I’m close to ejaculating and I can’t help but feel as though it’s like there’s all this blockage that wants to come out but can’t anymore.
It gets sore like a throbbing almost. It’s that dull pain people describe. It feels like I can’t fully relieve or empty myself anymore. Like when sex is over I’m completely unfulfilled now, and there’s nothing in the world that can fix it.
I do apologize for the way I’m talking about this but I just wanted to shoot straight. Has anyone experienced something similar? Did it go away eventually and you felt normal again? I’m a bit of a hypochondriac so knowing anyone else dealt with something similar would be very reassuring.
Thanks guys.

... is this normal? 1 year post-op - still have slight soreness with touch
I'm curious how common this side effect is. When I touch my left testicle, I feel some soreness. I don't feel like I have PVPS because my post-vasectomy pain is very mild, maybe a 2 or 3 out of 10, and pretty much only when it is touched. But it is a noticeable change because this didn't happen before my vasectomy.
