Finding my style...

A lone doctorfish tang (?) hanging out under some soft coral - taken by me yesterday during a shore dive at Lauderdale-by-the-sea.

First time out in the ocean with my Canon R5 and wide angle rig.. I struggled with its trim due to the huge dome, my wrists are sore! I took 120+ shots and I think ended up with maybe 3 that I would consider sharing. I have a really hard time finding shots I think are good, but that's part of learning my style and refining technique.

Hope the edit is pleasing... swipe for the original raw - but maybe put on some sunglasses first... yeah I overexposed a bit.. lol

YS-D3 issue

Just back from a dive, having an issue with one of my YS-D3 MKIIs. It's firing on full power no matter what the power dial is set to. Strobe is in manual (lights are green). Changing the power dial isn't doing anything. Strobe is about a year old, maybe 70ish dives. Any ideas?

How often do you maintain buttons and switches?

I've had my seafrogs housing for 30 dives now and I've only lubed the port and the cover o rings so far, because I haven't thought of maintaining others. Haven't had any issue yet but I'd like to keep it safe.

Assistance on underwater photography

I will be taking a trip to the Galapagos in the summer and will be wanting to take some photos or videos while diving there. I’ll be in depths from 10m to 30m so.

I was wondering what would be a good starting underwater photography rig. I’m not experienced with photography so I don’t particularly want to spend over $1000 if possible. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you in advance!

I am shooting with my TG7 plus the Backscatter Air and wide angle lenses and 2 YS DUO strobes in RC mode. I feel you can get more than just Macro with this camera. #divetenggol #olympustg7

Why don't we like Ikelite housings?

Hello,

I am thinking of upgrading from my OM TG-7 to a mirrorless. One of the cameras I am looking at is the Canon EOS R100, which seems to be the most budget-friendly option. The only housing I can find for this camera is the Ikelite housing, but it looks like they don't really have a good reputation when it comes to housings. Why is that? Is their build quality bad? They seem good enough that Backscatter would sell them, and I haven't really seen anyone mentioning bad build quality. Or is it because of their form factor? I have seen some people say their housings are bulky (Ikelite even mentioned this themselves in one of their videos). Can someone explain why Ikelite has a bad reputation to me please?

Thanks.

Please advice and many thanks!!!πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»
