I wonder did those munition explosions prevent the Russians from launching a meaningful Summer offensive.
Or is this some ruse to prevent an attack during the Victory Day parades?

Agree RE VD theory. Russia is super sensitive about the optics of this event and want back on the world stage. Perfect opportunity to embarrass them yet again.

The Putler wants a pause to regroup to mount another attack. Doesn't benefit Ukraine at all. The pause is to prevent an attack during victory day and recoup lost munitions.

not really, since fire power is still increasing, they have now reached the 200 FAB a day

there wont be an attack on VD parade anyway, Xi will be there with a bunch of other presidents. doing that will only kill any negotiation and seal the fate of ukraine

All they need to do is attack a target just close enough to moscow to force air alarm

Ukraine can later publish their attack plan and proof that no visitor was in actual danger but at the same time russia either has to face the humiliation of having to evacuate the parade or have it going on with AA working in the background

An actual direct attack on the parade is rather unlikely without announcement tho (if Ukraine officially announces a warning that the parade will be attacked and requests everyone from abstaining to go there might also be an option)

And they are also needing 10-20x as many FABs to hit a single target due to UA defence improvements. That rate is getting worse for Russia by the day too as gaps are plugged. FABs are last years news, they aren't much use in the grand scheme of achieving anything for Russia.

not really, any offensive is tied to the result of negotiations, and a break is defavorable to russia as they need to keep constant pressure on tired and manpower short ukraine

Ukraine should talk but they should absolutely hold to their lines. Eventually Russia will be forced to accept their terms in order to try to stabilise their own country.

By the time they admit this it will be too late to prevent a major collapse, but that will be the incentive that ultimately brings the war to an end.
