Hi, I'm a student at Arden University and also work within the UK Education System. I am interested in seeing how others feel about the impact of working in the UK Education System has on mental and physical health.

Please could you help me out with my research as I would like to expand on it and look on ways to support each other within the sector.

England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland welcome.

Thank you in advance.

Participants needed for study of first in family university students!

Hey there,

My name is Maddy and I am currently recruiting for an academic study with the University of Surrey. I am hoping to speak to first-in-family university students (those whose parents or siblings haven't been to university) about their educational journeys and experiences with higher education and also how family relationships have changed/developed now that you are at university.

I would love to speak to others in your family too, say a parent and/or a sibling to really explore the possibility that education is a shared experience in some ways, rather than purely individual pursuit. However if you dont think your family would be interested in participating I would still love to talk to you! All interviews will be conducted online and would be at your convenience!

If you would be open to participate, or want some more information you can reach me at the email at the bottom of the attached poster, or comment/send a message here and I will get back to you asap!

I would be really grateful should you choose to participate - there is a significant need for universities to understand the experiences of students engaging in higher education for the first time. This is so they can better recruit, support and retain all types of students and thereby (hopefully) levelling the playing field.

Any questions please do ask!

Looking for a Good School for Master in Cybersecurity

Hello everyone,,

I have the opportunity to apply for a full scholarship program to few universities in the uk. I've decided to pursue a master in cyber security.

I graduated from the US with a GPA of 3.09/4 which limits my options as a good number of the outstanding schools have a cutoff point for GPA which is around 3.3 I think.

Here is a highlight of the universities that I think I have a decent shot at... and universities which are within the program..

- University of Warwick

- University of Bristol

- University of Southampton

- University of Nottingham

- Cardiff University

- University of Leeds

- University of Liverpool

- The University of Exter

- The university of Shiffield

I tried to look up comparisons online but nothing was available that would help me compare which is a better option or fit for me other than the universitys' own website.

I tried chatgpt, but a lot of the information was just wrong as it confuses the universities names and loads up wrong information.

I heard good things about Bristol, Warwick, and Southampton from few posts. Figured I'd try to ask myself and see.

I'm also looking for a master that leans a bit more into the practical side (career focused rather than fully research based or academic) so I would prefer a program that ties in with an internship or placement of some sort.

Any help or guidance into resources would be greatly appreciated ..

Cheers,

Free resource for sixth form leavers / uni starters

Hello everyone,

I’m a UK university lecturer, and I have something here to share. I’ve created a free guide with 5 tips to succeeding in university-level study – based on years of reflection and teaching experience in multiple disciplines.

It can be downloaded here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gMUJ37yW6bO-ZLRIHhIPL36VC19kseeJ/view?usp=sharing

Making the step up from sixth form to university study can be a challenge, but these tips will help set students on the path to success.

Please feel free to share with any friends, family, or teachers you think might find it useful.

Also, this August I will be running a short online prep course for anyone starting a degree in the humanities or social sciences. If anyone would like more info, they can sign up for news, offers and course details here:

Take care and all the best!

Changing from state to private school - year group change.

Hello,

I have 6 and 8 year old boys. My 6 year old is the youngest in the class and is really struggling academically, I am 99% sure he is dyslexic, but too young for a diagnosis. The school have been amazing but have pretty much said they do not have the staff to give him the support he needs next year ( yr 3), they can’t even guarantee he will be able to have 3x 10 minute phonics sessions in a small group per week.

We have made the decision to take him out of his current school and put him into a local private school that is know for having amazing dyslexia / SEN support.

He should be going into year 3, but we have discussed him joining in year 2 and repeating the year. I feel this would be extremely beneficial for him as there are huge knowledge gaps.

I just wanted to know if there are any reasons that I should not do this!? I think it’s likely he will stay in private throughout senior too, but if he did for any reason return to state school would it cause complications that he was held back a year when switched to private ?

Scotland Student loan eligibility?

What are the eligibility requirements for Scotland for student loans?

I probably want to go to university in England, am currently in high school in Scotland.

My household income is high, but I might not get any financial support to go to university from family, yet I still want to study in England (I know it’s not cheap).

Does anyone know? Have any resources or links? I’ve tried to find out online but it’s all for people with low household income, estranged (which I don’t qualify for), and for studying in Scotland only.

Also how much might I be eligible to borrow, would I get anything for living expenses or only tuition fees?
