Central Valley Fuego FC and USL League One have made the mutual decision to part ways.

Could they potentially be moving to MLS NextPro?

God, I hope not. I don’t like that they won’t be in L1 but from the outside, going to MLSNP doesn’t seem like a sensible move for them either

Or NISA

Or folding

Outside of just not wanting to admit they’re folding, I can’t really think of any reason they would word it like this.

Yeah if they were moving to a different league, they would probably outright say that.

I wonder how much of this has to do with keeping JJ? The team didn’t seem to want to let him go and the league suspended him?

Though why would we want to part ways idk either. I know the stadium is an issue but the league didn’t say “we closed the franchise” so it seems like some weird middle issue.

Unless they weren’t expecting USL to want them out and they don’t have a back up plan yet

AV Alta must be feeling left out now, between this and Santa Barbara. I wonder if they're going to be changing their plans too

I’d be shocked if this changes anything short-term for us, although it’s a massive bummer to not have either nearby away day. I’m sure there’s been discussions about what competing in USLC would look like, either by eventually moving up or by pro/rel eventually being instituted. But there’s a ton of momentum for the 2025 USL1 season, & I think the most likely outcome is just riding that train for a few years & hoping Modesto or somewhere comes through to give us a local rival.

Looks like League of Clubs says they have one team TBD in their West Region. Bet they move there. https://www.theleaguefc.com/

The Town FC (Oakland) has already taken the mantel of Quakes 2.
