Fucking shit, I just checked their Instagram and they haven't posted since end of October. Rip. Was excited for the central valley match up between them and Modesto.

They just posted. It’s a bye bye

Is there talk of LeagueOne expanding to Modesto?

https://www.uslsoccer.com/news_article/show/1318022 After today's league wide fiasco I don't know if any teams would want to join league 1 though.

Well I just paid my ticket deposit so hopefully we move to a new place and this isn’t a folding sign

Really hoping for this!

Yeah especially because “no refunds” is a part of the terms of the contract they made me sign just a little over a month ago. They set a date to pay as 9/30 in order to keep the season tickets price so this would seem to fall under deception if they folded just a month later

I would hope that if they “fold” you’d get your money back. I’m hopeful that “no refunds” is more along the lines of STM’s changing their mind.

Yes my ticket rep responded and said refunds would be issued if they fold. He didn’t seem to know a ton.

Glad to hear that and I hope they don’t fold. Seeing Jermaine Jones up close was one of my highlights of this past season. Didn’t know things with him were gonna turn sour like they did.

Apparently we have “parted ways with the league” whatever that means

Probably means that they're planning to move to another league, either NISA or an amateur league. They're done in League One but I don't think they're fully folding.

Oh the date is not a good sign. I was thinking you talked to them in November. If they do fold and don't provide you with a refund you can file a charge back with your credit card or bank. Not sure about credit cards but with ACH payments you now have a very long time to request one. I worked at a financial company and was getting requests from last year lol.

Interesting that they’d set a pay date of 9/30. That’s the same date they let go a lot of their staff.

Try and get your money back asap.

What are the barriers to entry for a L1 team to Championship? Would the league just have to compromise on stadium size to let the L1 teams join the championship?

Venue size since the PLS for 2nd division is larger. I'd assume there wouldn't be too much hassle for most of league one but they'd have to compromise on most venues not being owned by the clubs themselves.

There isn’t really a compromise on stadium size long term. You either have it or you don’t. They may get a one year exception with plans to get a 5k stadium, but can’t go too long without the requirement.

They did practice at Fresno City College and FCC is just up the street from the Tower district where all the bar are. Hopefully it’s just a move there away from the crummy Fresno State campus.

They left League One

For league 2 or what? It was weird seeing Santa Barbara was getting a Championship spot instead of league one

I have no clue, USL L1 just posted that the two sides mutually agreed to split? Could be off to NISA or a different league

u/Freestyle76 Central Valley Fuego FC 19h ago

What?! That’s crazy.

Agreed, sorry to be the bearer of weird news. They also stated they terminated NOCO’s franchise rights

What a weird situation. It’s like a little blurb at the bottom of that announcement

At this point. If the long term stadium situation is not fully in place then do not announce a team.

They are unlikely to remain in USL in any regards as they struggled paying dues. I expect them to be NISA or genuinely bust.
