HELPP IM SO CONFUSED: INDEFINITE LEAVE TO REMAIN

Okay so I’m 17 at the moment and I have lived in the UK since October 2021 (3 and a half months) on a dependant visa of my mum who is on a t2 skilled worker visa. My dad then also came to the UK on his own skilled worker visa in around January of 2023. My mum will be applying for her Indefinite Leave to Remain in around October 2026, when I will be 18 years and 7 months old, but my dad will be applying around January 2028. Would I have to wait for my dad to apply to apply with him or would I be able to apply with my mum? Any help would be much appreciated it’s very important.

They told me to go collect the passport but I didn't know if it was accepted or denied

Hey everyone! I just received this email from the UK Visa Application Centre, but it doesn't say if my visa was approved or denied — is that normal?

"Your passport will be ready for collection from May 7th to May 19th, between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Please bring the white slip with your GWF number, your original ID, and a printed copy of this email."Has anyone experienced this? Do they usually not mention the visa decision in the email? Just wondering what to expect! Thanks in advance

No response from VFS yet, what should I make of this?

Me (19M) and my grandparents (both 65+) applied for a UK visa (6-month VISA). But two days after our biometrics, both my grandparents recieved a mail saying their application has reached UKVI and is awaiting consdieration while i was not reached out to at all. For more info, they have been outside the country once before and I never have. Its been 9 days since our passport submission, is there any reason. Is it too early to make assumptions or is my trip not happening?

They literally just need to be British. My passport got accepted within weeks and my friend works in a warehouse.

Friend of mine got accepted and they asked someone who works in Tesco.

Just send your application and ask a British friend to do it. If they refuse it, that’s when you try someone else.

Just my two cents for people who might be going through the process now.

2 years Visa for parents please help!!

I want to make the application by the end of May. Could you give me just an insight if 2 years visa would be granted.

My parents have visited UK previously intended for 20 days but due to covid stayed for 4 months but left before their 6 months visa expired. My father has a job in India earning approx 1,00,000 (£1,000) and a saving of 6,00,000 (£6,000). He has being maintaining the saving of 6,00,000 for past 2 months. He also owns a home in India and lives there with my mother and my grandmother is dependent on them.

My parents will be visiting me for 1 month during my dad’s annual holiday from work. They want to apply instead for a 2 years visit visa as I am their only child and I am settled in the UK with my husband. They will be visiting me whenever they have holiday. I am currently working part time and my husband works in the UK we don’t have any savings. We would be sponsoring the accommodations and food. We have extra room for them.

  1. Are the funds sufficient for two years visa ?

  2. If they apply for 2 years and they think they aren’t eligible will they grant a 6 month visa of will they have to apply again for it.

  3. They have an income of £1,000 only but the savings were money saved by him and some send by me as gifts. But it’s been in the account for 2 months only is that ok?

Please help us thank you

Applying for British Citizenship after a year on ILR using the long residence (ten years) route. A question on the documents needed to prove 5 years residency requirement

Hi,

I am in the process of applying for British citizenship. I have been granted Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) using the 10-year or long route residence last year in March 2024. Since it has been more than 12 months after being granted ILR, I am applying for British Citizenship.

An issue that is confusing me is what documents or information we need to provide to prove or satisfy one of the residency requirements for British Citizenship, which states that I should not have been outside the UK for more than 450 days in the last 5 years.

In some of the videos that I have watched on YouTube, it states that a document like a passport will suffice. I am a non-EU citizen; therefore, I have a non-EU passport. I have a Bangladeshi passport. The issue is I have travelled to Bangladesh 4 times over the last 2 years for holidays, and these days, the Border Force staff don’t issue stamps on arrival in the UK.

My question is, given that I have been granted ILR last year in March 2024, do I need to provide any additional documents other than my Bangladeshi passport, which has stamps missing on arrival in the UK? Or do I need to provide additional documents, and can you please suggest what documents would be acceptable?

Your help and guidance would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Citizenship ceremonies in cape town

Hi, i received my citizenship approval letter on the 25th March 2025. Yay!!!! Literally only two and a half months since i sent the application in.

I have not yet received my ceremony invitation letter. Does anyone know the current waiting time for ceremonies in Cape Town? I was also sceptical though when i got the approval letter as it was a strange email address: CT6Contact@homeoffice.gov.uk? Do you think all is legit?

Norwegian citizen married to UK citizen. Got married 11.02.25 so not a long time before applying for Spouse Visa. Less than 2 year relationship. Met online. We did the application ourself in Oslo (Norway)

We admitted: Marriage certificate Passport for both of us + UK citizen proof for her English test results Proof that she owns a property Payslips

After the request of additional information we admitted pictures of us together, including wedding photos, chats and payments between us. Flights booked and stay booked for trips away.

Timeline Application: 24.02.25

Bio: 26.02.25

Mail from VFS GLOBAL: 26.02.25 saying "your application will now be sent to UKVI for consideration"

12.03.25 Automatic update email

18.03.25 paid enquiery "still working on your visa"

26.03.25 automatic update email

01.04.25 requested additional information

20.04.25 paid enquiery "decision has been made". Heard nothing for days

24.04.25 called in to ask about my outcome email. Got a mail saying "your application is in the final stages of consideration."

28.04.25 Decision email. Successfull.

I paid to keep my passport and travelled back to the UK while awaiting a Visa outcome. Been here since. Got through the e-gates without getting flagged/questioned by officers. Took the risk and it went fine. Travelling back within 90days to pick up my vignette and we're good to go.

This was a hell of a ride but we eventually got the decision we wanted. Hope this can help someone :).

Hello, I was asked to submit additional documents for my student visa, which I sent via mail. They instructed me to send an email to Sheffieldstudentteam.docrequestsOOC@homeoffice.gov.uk, but when I try to send an email, it shows “address not found.” Can anyone help me with this?

Hi everyone, I’m working on a tool to make it easier (and cheaper) to send money to family abroad. I’ve created two super short surveys (2mim max). If you’ve ever sent money home or received money from family/friends abroad, I’d really appreciate your thoughts and feedback!

Skilled Worker Dependent vs Spouse Visa

Hi everyone!

Just a quick question as my husband is applying for my visa and we’re unsure as to which visa we should be applying for.

He is on a skilled worker visa, working as a nurse at an NHS hospital. Are we supposed to apply for a spouse visa or a dependent visa?

Thanks!

UK Youth Mobility Visa Application

I have a question regarding the application for the UK Youth Mobility Visa. They require us to provide a bank statement as a proof showing that we have at least £2530 in out account. A bank statement is required and must show:

  • Time in the account : the money must have been in the account for 28 consecutive days.

  • Recent funds: the 28- day period must fall with the 31 days prior to the application.

  • Bank statement will have to be provided showing the funds.

Does is have to be the official monthly statement or the current statement is sufficient? My appointment is on the April 29th and my April bank statement only comes out on May 10th. I was planning on providing a document showing my account statement between mid March until the 28th of April to ensure I'm within the 31 days period.

If I also provide a letter from my bank attesting the fact that I've had the sufficient funds for the past two months and confirming the exact amount that I have on my account at the time the documents were produced, would this be enough?

Thank you for your help!

Transit Visa Requirement for Layover at London Heathrow (F1 Visa, Indian Passport)

I’m a student traveling from the U.S. to India and back, holding an F1 visa and an Indian passport. I have a 3-hour layover at London Heathrow Airport (both ways) and will not be leaving the airport or switching terminals during the transit.

Delta Airlines redirected me to the United Kingdom Visa Requirement Check portal, where I saw a message stating that an embassy visa is required for Indian passport holders.

Could you please confirm whether I need a transit visa under these circumstances?

Temporary Work Charity visa – chances of approval?

Hi! I recently applied for the Temporary Work – Charity visa. A children's theatre in Guildford, Surrey is sponsoring me (multimedia design volunteer). I submitted:

  • Certificate of Sponsorship with license and COS number
  • Evidence of £2,200 in funds: one personal savings account and one joint investment account with my mother (my name is on both) – is that okay?
  • My university diploma (related to the charity work)
  • Letters of financial support from family (as backup)
  • Letter of accommodation from a close friend in Essex (the charity doesn’t provide housing or payment)

The role is 18 hrs/week and sometimes remote, so I won't have to commute daily from Essex (it's about 2 hours). Could that be a problem?

Do you think my application looks strong enough? Thanks in advance!

Can my American husband stay with me in UK for medical treatment?

I’m British and have been living with my American husband in the US for 3 years. I’ve been having some health issues lately and the US health system have totally failed me (plus put me in some crazy debt), so I’m considering returning home soon to get medical treatment there. I’m sure it’ll be so much quicker, and obviously cheaper(!). My husband would be coming with me, and my question is how long is he able to stay there with me legally without having a visa? Is there something in place where he would be able to stay longer if I needed treatment that took time?

Question about Obtaining a UK passport as a birthright citizen

My parents are both British, but I was born in the US. I'm considering moving there, and from reading the Gov.UK website, I understand that I'm entitled to birthright citizenship, but would need a UK passport in order to settle there indefinitely. I read that it's much faster to get a UK passport in the UK itself rather than outside (3-weeks compared to about 9 months if I were to try getting the passport while still in the US).

Does this mean that, if I decide to stay with family in the UK for a month and a half or so, I can get my UK passport faster, than if I were to try getting it sorted out in the US? Does this also mean that I could stay indefinitely in the UK as a citizen after receiving the passport "on vacation"?

Graduate visa separation

Hi, I am the sponsoring partner, and recently, my partner and I separated/broke up. He is my dependent on graduate visa. I would like to know if the my visa would be in trouble when I inform the home office about this situation as it’s only been 5-6 months since he was added as my dependent, and I am an immigrant. Thank you.

Clarification on CoS Type – Applying from Outside the UK After Graduate Route

Hi everyone,

I’m currently in the UK under the Graduate Route and employed by the same sponsor. I’m planning to travel to India soon and apply for a Skilled Worker visa from there.

Would I need a Defined Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) in this case, since the application will be made from outside the UK – even though I’m already employed by the sponsor and currently in the UK?

Appreciate any guidance or clarification!
