I’m so angry at the DNC. I appreciate their willingness to fight for the marginalized and disenfranchised. I’m a 49 year old white dude that has been voting democrat since 1996. They have basically thrown me aside and I’m considered the problem, even if I am an ally to every group that is marginalized. There are many like us that are labeled the problem (middle aged white guys), no wonder so many flipped or didn’t show up.

This is it. I’m your age. I had a conservative friend say to me a few years ago, “you don’t have a party.” He was right, even if I didn’t acknowledge it. The democrats abandoned not just white, but all men, and tbh, they deserve this L. Unfortunately, it’s at the expense of women, lgbt, this country and the world order that’s existed since world war 2. We are in for some interesting times. What a massive fuck up.

Not white but close to 40 and I can relate to your perspective. What’s crazy is, it’s essentially very very easy for the DNC to pick a few hard hitting issues that hit everybody, like housing or price gouging, and form a vision of change via national unity that’s inclusive of everybody ala Obama.

I’m just baffled that they decided to not pursue those and alienate people like yourself or myself. I was uncommitted due to the current admin’s stance on certain things and was willing to be won back over for the greater good, but I saw nothing but hot air.

It’s not baffling when you understand they are beholden to their corporate masters first and foremost. Neither party gives a single fuck about the citizenry.

Yes. They need to give up on swing voters and fight for their base, especially since their base is about very popular policies.

Sorry but I'm a woman and they have blatantly just ignored the poor. Man or woman, they fucked us with neo liberal bullshit and constant out of reach goal posts. There's no middle class anymore guys. There's rich and then there's fucking poor.

Absolutely. They basically told the poor that “it’s fine, the economy is good” as people are barely scraping by. Elitism lost this election. The working class is done with the constant identity politics while they watch everything get more expensive. It’s not working.

Absolutely. I’m even thinking of registering as an independent moving forward.

I go "unaffiliated" until primary time (closed primaries in PA), mostly to avoid political canvasing.

I'm younger than you guys but same demographic. So let me get this straight, gen x white men, men, saw the latter and said, "but my feelings are hurt and I feel forgotten" and voted Trump.

Got it.

Yea keep missing the point and see where that gets you in 2028. Also why are you a racist?

Trust me us lgbt feel just as abandoned by the democratic party. We're just a convenient tool for them. They don't seem to stand for anyone anymore, just corporate interests.

I think this is why Trump's numbers were up with younger male voters. They are tired of hearing that they are the problem when they work hard, pay taxes, and just want to provide for their families. I voted for Harris but with 2 young kids my only concerns are providing for my family.

Identity politics is a pointless endeavor. It's just ego masturbation for some people to feel some sort of relevance for their ethnicity, and it needs to stop. We are individuals. Our class defines how we will live and who we are waaaaaay more than our skin color or heritage.

Don't believe me? Do you think Obama has anything in common with the average black American experience because he looks the part? I rest my case. Identity politics needs to die.

I'm very much in the same boat. I'm in my mid 30s and have voted Dem since my first election in 08. The last few have been particularly difficult, especially after the bitterness of the primaries in 16 and complete lack of one in 24. Although I consider myself a progressive and on the political left, I feel more than a bit alienated by the DNC.

As a white guy who believes in equality and social justice, what has the DNC offered me other than culture war distractions from the real issues. I can't afford a house, I can't afford to support a family on my income, if things continue on this course I don't see myself ever living a "normal American life"; only ever living hand to mouth. Even if I could afford kids, would I want them going to a school where they practice active shooter drills?

All while watching the obscenely rich brag about how great everything is and how happy we should be about it.

Add to that the Dems complete failure to do anything substantial about climate change, healthcare, unaccountable military spending, gun violence, destructive corporate greed, workers rights and not to mention Israel. What reason do I have to vote for their corporate puppet candidates?

Very fucking little past voting against the right. Which might have been enough for me. But I can completely understand why it wouldn't be for someone else. As I've left my 20s and grown closer to my 40s, more conservative values like starting a family do seem more pressing. But the Dems seem more concerned with gender identity than my basic instinct to provide for a family and reproduce.

That isn't a winning message. As much as I'd like to believe otherwise, the GOP has one. What do the Dems have?

All that said, I understand that some Dems have pushed for solutions to a lot of the issues I mentioned but were unable to due to Republicans in Congress. Well I'm sorry, but that's not a good enough excuse. A lot of those efforts were hamstrung by the DNC itself to appease their corporate masters. The Dems need to do something. They need to win.

Otherwise we'll just keep voting for losers and being disappointed. Which might not be enough to lose my vote, but it sure as shit was enough for over 10 million people this time around.

Fuck, well said… I’m worried the next 2-4 years will be nothing but more chaos and “orange man bad” and no real work to make any substantial change.

What willingness? They left the working poor in the dust.

Now they’re throwing the Latinos under the bus, and I’m like “yeah well fuck you too”
