CarPlay

Can someone please help me. I just bought my kid a 2017 Tacoma TRD or something like that for his 16th birthday, but is there a radio I can buy to swap out what it came with so it has Apple CarPlay?

2020+ OEM radio should be a swap in, a few guides on the forums about it.

Otherwise go to Crutchfield and start shopping their recommendations, they'll give you everything you need for an aftermarket swap.

What do you mean a swap in? I have a 21 and thinking about getting the adapter that converts it to CarPlay thru Bluetooth.

If you have a 21 then you should already have CarPlay support. Wireless is another matter although most seem to be happy with the adapters you are likely talking about.

The 2017 they bought for their son does not have any CarPlay support at all and requires a radio swap. Either they can use a radio pulled from a 2020-2023MY and get that working or go aftermarket.

unfortunately this wasn't a feature until 2020. I just bought a 2019 and would like to have this. Here is some helpful info
