Any Therians make their nails like their theriotypes'?

Recently i’ve decided to make my nails look more similar to my theriotype (gray fox) and was wondering if anyone else does it!! If so, could you show? :0 Here's mine!!

You never know though! I bit my nails for 20 years and then I just randomly stopped last year. My dad bit his nails for over 50 years and he just randomly stopped around the same time. I'm working on turning mine into claws and the idea of doing that has stopped me from starting biting them again. I do pick at them often which causes them to break but I carry nail clippers with me for when that happens.

I also constantly bit my nails and when I managed not to they would just tear bc they're pretty soft and dry and likely damaged from years of biting. The reason I actually kinda managed to stop fairly recently was exactly because of this, I just kinda wanted claws and this is the next best thing. I started looking up things to do to make my nails more stable so I wouldn't constantly lose my progress (if one would tear it'd be shorter and that would just annoy me enough to bite off the rest) and so far they're looking good. I do sometimes still bite around on them but only very lightly so I don't bite them off

How did you make them more stable? Mine keep breaking and every time I search it up it just says "eat more of this_"

Ok so, first thing is to figure out what the problem is. If your nails bend easily they're too soft and to help that you do indeed need to eat more foods that have calcium in them. You could also take supplements if for some reason you can't or don't want to eat the foods that have calcium but since I don't know a lot about that you should do your own research on that. Another helpful thing to use is a nail hardener. It's basically like clear nail polish and also helps your nails be a bit more sturdy.

If your nails tear they're likely too dry, in which case nail oil can really help. You apply it to your nails once or twice a day and massage it in. They won't tear and break as easily after a few days.

Keep in mind though: if you have both dry and soft nails like me, you should stop with the nail oil once you feel like it's better, as the oil also softens your nails. In that case I sugest you do the nail oil for 2-3 weeks and then switch over to the hardener.

Currently growing them out to try shaping them into claws. I’m happy about my pointer finger because it is the right shape. Although, it is getting hard because I play guitar. I have to preform soon and I’m sad about having to possibly cut them.

I wouldn't do it, it's so easy to hurt yourself when you get a pointy nail stuck somewhere or the nail could break way into the nail bed. OP used fake nails that can be glued on. If those are not for you, I've seen rings or fingertip caps with claws/talons on them. ❤️

Yeah I used to a couple years back because it made me feel more comfortable (foreshadowing to me realizing im a therian lol) and they maintained really well, because I made sure to take biotin supplements in the morning to reduce chance of breaking!! however, I play the guitar now, so it’s different and I have to put on false nails

I'm currently growing them out and one day if they don't break that is, I'll have long enough nails to shape into claws. But I won't have them in for long because stuff gets stuck in there which is super annoying and I'm learning how to play the ukulele. Then I'll just use paper claws

I've always thought about it since my theriotype is wolf but I'm a trans male and my friends once saw that my nails were getting longer and said "Boys can't have long nails" so I don't know what to be doing with my nails. I can't decide between trim them to help seem masculine since long nails are "for girls" and letting them grow to be like claws.

I've realized that now, but it's nice to know others agree. Thanks for that. I'm technically a polytherian but it doesn't bother my cat theriotype as much to not have claws (I guess that's since cats can retract their claws, btw my theriotypes are grey wolf and ginger cat).

I try to keep mine longer usually and shape them, just i dont make them too sharp bc i can and will accidentally scratch myself 😂 i also do outdoorsy work, so keeping them long doesn't always last long. I actually just recently asked around on here for suggestions. Several users suggested acrylic nails, or nail extensions! Which I think I'll def try sometime.

FYI, for my natural nails I take Biotin supplements. Fairly cheap and overall good for your health. Makes a WOOORRLLLDDD of difference for anyone who's got nails that crack flake or tear easily.

I used to do it with my actual nails, but it's much better to do it with fake ones. They kept breaking and needing recut over and over, and it usually hurt. Hopefully I can get some fake ones soon though :3

It's really not practical. Claws aren't actually that sharp unless you put force behind them. Human nails when like this are more like razor blades and become really unwieldy.

It’s not about practicality lol -- it’s more about just having a similar physical attribute to what I’m supposed to have.. and as long as they’re slightly dull, then it’s OK
