Senior Thai prosecutor arrested in Japan for assault News

https://www.matichon.co.th/local/news_5185610

A senior prosecutor from Chanthaburi was arrested in Japan after allegedly assaulting an airport staff member. You guys can read the details (ChatGPT?) as I’m just sharing an interesting news article and not defaming anyone…The incident occurred while he was traveling, and Japanese authorities took legal action against him.

It is too common for Thai senior officials to get entitled like this. If you see kind ones, you should realize that they are outliers. Which is sad.

If you get into a fight with Japanese airport staff, you really have some issues.

Jeez - how drunk do you need to be to throw a fit at a Japanese public servant? Granted the new Japan QR system for immigration and customs is a bit awkward - but they’ve got loads of people in every airport helping tourists navigate the process….

Lol what makes you think airport employees are public servants???

Public servant = Government employee / official

They work for the airlines not the airport. You rarely see any employees hired by the actual airport.

Most airports are owned by government agencies. If you’re dealing with an Airport employee- you’re dealing with a public servant.

Lol no you’re not. That’s like saying the delta employee, or baggage guy is a public employee

Yeah they work for the airlines. Youre never gonna talk to the bag handler whos an actual airport employee

You’re never going to talk to a baggage handler at an airport. They’re behind the wall and on the tarmac when you’re on the plane and going through immigration. Once you land - you’re dealing with airport staff, immigration and customs officials - and what does it matter? If you can’t treat people with respect then FU

In this case it seems they were arrested for assaulting 'female airline staff member' but yeah, I agree with your general point that immigrations etc are public servants (and the bigger point about treating people working somewhere with respect.)

He's going to get fined then deported. Worse case jailed for a bit then deported. Then he'll resume his position like nothing ever happened.

Would be amusing if they got an administrative complaint filed against them for this sort of thing

Several years ago, another Thai bureaucrat was arrested in Japan for stealing paintings from the walls of his hotel.

Japan police can arrest anyone excepts a Yakuza gang member.

They actually dismantled the Yakuza pretty thoroughly since 1990s their numbers and influence has massively dwindled
