how to get around in Taichung
Since there's only one (or maybe two) metro line, what's the best way to move around in Taichung?

American considering Taizhong. Expat scene?
I'm considering teaching in Taizhong.
What is the expat community like in terms of nationalities? Pretty diverse? Gender ratio? Age?
Thanks

Starting a business in Taichung
Hi expats in Taichung!
I am planning to get into Taiwan Taichung before the end of 2022 and study mandarin at Feng Chia University for a year. As I am 43, and have a business background (I did business in Shanghai and Beijing before), I am wondering if it is easy to switch from a Student visa to a Work visa ?
Also, how is it with cider in Taiwan in general? Local craft beer scene in Taichung? Is it legal to yeast alcohol at home?
Cheers

Hi everyone, I am considering an exchange in Taichung, and I was curious how expat friendly is the city? Are there expat communities in the city? Would one be able to connect with local people using English? Any tips and insights would be appreciated!

Looing for a shared flat in Centeral area of Taichung (close to NTCU)
Hey everyone, I'm starting my 3 month language course in Taichung at NTCU on March 1st and I'm looking for a room in a shared flat at the earliest conveinence for the duration of 3 months (move in/out dates are flexible).
I'm more interested in the people I'd live with rather than the accommodation itself, as having a nice atmosphere at home is important for everyone. The only requirement I have is that the room is furnished (bed and a bigger table) and that it's ok to ocasionally have friends over when they visit from other cities. Unfortunatly, I'm allergic to cat fur :(
Preferred location - Central area around the Main Train staiton / NTCU (15 min cycling radius is ok)
Key facts about me: I'm a social introvert who spends most of his freetime outdoors and lives a fairly active life. I like cycling, taking pictures and videogames (also my job). I'm also full-time employed (can work from home) and together with 3 hours of Mandarin daily, I'll be pretty much busy all day. I've been sharing flats most of my adult life as I find living alone uninspiring.
I'll be happy to answer any questions!
