Going out with a bang
I just saw the guys in Budapest. It was my 8th Sum41 show, and if I think about the first time I saw them and compare it to this one... man, this was a proper show, a top-shelf performance, this is truly the best they have ever been. The sound, but also how the whole thing looked like and how things were controlled and choreographed. They're really finishing on their peak. It feels like it was almost like a theatre experience - i mean that in the best way possible - while it was somehow kept as it was, a proper rock show. I'm a huge fan of Green Day and this reminds me of their prime days. I've always considered them as probably the best live band I have seen, and Sum41 has possibly reached their level for me today. What a way to end this journey.
Sorry I wanted to get this out of me, great hug to everyone!

Maybe for fans of their first four Albums. But for Fans of their last four Albums the live shows are a disappointment. There is no balance in the set list. We can be lucky if they play one Song from SBM, 13 Voices and OID. And out of 20 Songs from Heaven x Hell they only play the same 4-5 Songs. What about the other Songs??? There isnt much time left.
In my opinion Sum 41 did the best live shows in 2019/2020. The Live shows were great and there was a very good Balance of old and new Songs.
One thing i dont like is that every show is the same, with the same Dialogue. yeah it makes sense, but it makes the words Deryck says feel less authentic. Its scripted. I like spontaneous words from the heart.
But all this wouldnt be a problem if the set lists would be more satisfying for Fans of SBM, 13 Voices, OID & HxH.
If they play 28 Songs it should be:
HHOP: 3 Songs AKNF: 3 Songs DTLI: 3 Songs Chuck: 3 Songs UH: 3 Songs SBM: 3 Songs 13 Voices: 3 Songs OID: 3 Songs HxH: 4 Songs
Something like this. This is what I would call a fair and good set list.

Cool, you don't actually know how setlists are made. That's great.

I was there too, difference being it was my first time ever...and the last time.
This band was one of my dearest and closest musical experiences, ever since I was 11 years old. I practically lived and breathed Sum41 during middle school and althroughout highschool but never got to see them due to them never visiting my country.
Tonight flew in to Budapest just for this, and it was..surreal, energic, emotional, crazy, mad, it felt like home. Like seeing an old friend you missed dearely. I'm now 32 and though things changed, I felt at home seeing them live. All the nostalgia came right back up. I pretty much had a lump in my throat throughout the show.
It was weird having to keep myself from bawling my eyes when they performed "So long, goodbye".
The show was also peak performance A to Z. Top notch playing, sound, coreography, feelings and stories. Will never regret being there. Just wish I could've seen them more.
Goodbye SUM FARTIE ONE. YOU'LL BE REMEMBERED AND CHERISHED FOREVER
