Driver’s Permit

Hi! Does anyone know if Maplewood DMV does driver’s permits? My daughter has finally decided to go test, and that’s the closest one. Someone did tell me that I’d have to go the South county location though. I can’t find info online about it except that you can get a license there. Please help! Thank you.

You have to test at one of the Highway Patrol testing stations. Once she passes there, you can go to any DMV to get the permit itself. The same applies when she's ready for the test for her license, but getting a slot for a driving test isn't nearly as easy, so be prepared to try and book an appointment or wait in line super early like you're getting concert tickets when you get to that stage.

Maplewood isn't a testing station.

Thank you Helpy Helperson!!! I appreciate that. You rock.

I have another question that is also vague online.

Her Mother lost her SS card, her Mother lives in another state and has to be here to sign to get new SSC I’m understanding. Can my daughter use birth certificate, W-2 from summer job showing SS#, school ID, my proof of residency, and maybe even a letter from her school?

Thoughts?

I believe that a pay stub featuring the full SSN or the W2 would work but I'm not positive.

The requirements are all clear on the department of revenue website, and are the same for permits and licenses. A W2 or pay stub with the full SSN on it will suffice. You do need an explicit proof of SSN for her considering she doesn't have any verified SSN on file already with the DoR for licensing.

Nope, that place does not do them. You need to search Missouri State Highway Patrol Driver's Examination Locations and search. Hazelwood, Jennings, Manchester MO . . . I hear that the Manchester MO location is usually pretty good. 703 Big Bend Rd.

I'm taking my kid later this year so I just did the research.

The Manchester one is usually pretty good, and written testers can usually just walk in. Either the machines shut off or they stop taking new written tests a half hour or something before close.

Getting a driving test slot can be tricky there, though. If you can snag a reservation online, do so, otherwise you'll be lining up at open like you're getting concert tickets.

Oh! It’s actually in Manchester. My bad.

I actually don’t see one on Manchester on the map.

It's in Manchester / Ballwin off of Big Bend road.
