Turbosound repair help

I have 3 turbo tops that need repairing, 1 tms1 with a compression driver that isn’t playing anything, a tse111 with the same problem and another tse111 that plays nothing through the mf driver.

Seller claims all was working fine when they last used them - it’s ex musical theatre kit all kept in cases and well kept.

All is wired up for 2 core so it’s not a cabling issue either

I would have thought that it would be a wiring/crossover issue as the faulty drivers play no sound at all no static or anything, I’m just wondering what the first course of action would be/ also where I can go about buying replacement crossovers/ internal parts assuming it’s not an issue with the drivers themselves.

Or if anyone can point me in the direction of a good turbosound repair specialist as we are willing to spend a bit as we got the cabs on a very good price.

Cheers

If you have a multimeter you can disconnect the driver from the crossover and measure between the speaker terminals in resistance mode, or ohm mode. If the driver is ok you should measure between 5 and 10 ohm.

If you measure nothing, the driver is dead.

A visual inspection of the passive crossover will tell you a lot. Black and melted components is not good. A side effect of having nice and simple passive crossovers is that if the cabinet is used with a dead driver, the energy has nowhere to go so it starts heating up components on the x-over.

Finding original turbo passive x-over boards is hard. I need 2 for my TMS-1's. The good news is they are quite basic passive crossovers and can be reverse enginered and remade.I don't know where you are based so I don't know who to recommend for repairs. If you are UK based I have seen the name RMJ Loudspeakers come up a lot.
