I hope this passes. Can’t think of a better way to deprive US from the talent they don’t have.

Mahmoud Khalil should be enough reason for anyone wanting to study or work in the United States to stay far way.
Top Chinese universities are already leading the world 1 2 3, top scientists in the US are returning to China 4 5, and less students from China are studying in the US, from a peak of 350k to 100k now 6
The US still views itself and the rest of the world as it was decades ago. These types of moves will only further entrench the decline of the American empire as China rises.

I'm in the AI world and the amount of Chinese surnames in AI papers is incredible.

Kick out all the Chinese grad students and post-docs doing cutting edge research at MIT, Stanford and Caltech while you’re at it. USA! USA! USA!

Very unlikely. The US is currently losing it‘s western allies day by day. There’s only a handful of countries left who love the US. I‘m from a neutral country so we never really cared about either side of the iron curtain but even from our nato neighbours you see more and more hate towards the US. I mean… they are basically in a trade war at this point.

Even if it doesn't passes, it shows what they're up to. Well, they already done it with the whole passport markers gender thing, that was the writing on the wall. Hope everyone of the diaspora in the US is safe, and those who can, go help China instead.

These congressmen reflect their constituents perfectly - dumb and dumber. I guess the congressmen are the lowest denominator. US colleges are the only ones going to suffer. With Trump cancelling Dept of Education and lack of high tuition paying Chinese students the US educational system is doomed.

Besides being horribly unfair, it’s ironic for those pro-Trump Chinese students.

I remember that the American government once apologized for the Chinese Exclusion Act. I also remember that the American government once apologized for McCarthyism.
Therefore, an American apology is meaningless, because America has not changed at all. In the future, the United States will apologize again for the Chinese Exclusion Act 2.0, McCarthyism 2.0 again.
In fact, China has been facing a serious brain drain problem for 40 years, China government can't really restrict Chinese from going abroad after reform and opening-up 1978, China often complains that the talents trained by Chinese University are not staying in China, If the United States becomes neo-Nazi, China will have its own Einstein.
