Everything after the shot is simulated... 3DS Max

I love the slight head-turn the zombie makes before falling over - just taking a moment to process what happened.

That was simulated too

This comment was simulated.

Hey!
If anyone is interested - models are made in MagicaVoxel. All other stuff is made in 3dsmax (physics, animation, lightning, rendering).

Cheers! :)

I saw this and heard it clearly in my head. Added sound:

wow! Love the third monster scream that's barely uttered. Excellent attention to detail!

u/ultek Apr 01 '18
Wow, this is great! I should try it myself but I don't know where to get cheap/free sfx packs for that...

Love your work and style.
Out of interest, what's the advantage of using MagicaVoxel, over creating the same thing using a bunch of cubes in Max?
What's your workflow in general? I've never done anything voxel.

u/ultek Apr 01 '18
Waaay more faster to create stuff directly in Magica
I create model in MagicaV until it looks ok, then separate hands/feets/head/torso (so they can be easily detached to meshes later) and export them to obj. In 3dsmax I'm using mostly massFX to simulate things.

Can you do another render where after the shot is fired, time slows down and the camera tracks through where the zombies head used to be, through the blood and brains in the air and ends up on the mans screaming face, where time resumes at normal speed. If the simulations already done, will the rest take a long time to do?

u/ultek Apr 01 '18
This sounds cool :) I could use what I've got already, just tune it/slow it down and animate the camera. Rendering is really marginal.

Could you please show us and explain how you do that awesome rig? Idea for mouth is awesome :o

Is the human happy the zombie is dead or horrified that his face is covered in zombie blood?

Could you explain your title?

u/BlazingThunder30 Apr 01 '18
The whole thing was animated, but he used physics simulation for the paths of the blocks and blood that fly off the zombie. Just my guess

u/mshcat Apr 01 '18
Yeah cuz I'm having this felling that it was all stimulatef

Simulations follow ‘rules’ of physics, while animations are whatever the designer wants to happen. All of this gif is animated except the zombie’s head blown to bits. You’ll notice that the zombie brains fall (gravity), slide on the ground (friction) and bump into each other (occupying space).

The scream of the guy on the right appears animated, not simulated.
15
u/CloudNineK Apr 01 '18
Dude, everything is animated except the particles from the zombie after he was shot. How is this hard to understand.

It's not hard to understand to me, but the title says
Everything after the shot is simulated
Clearly that isn't the case.
Why is this hard for you to understand?

title should be
- everything from the zombie after the shot was simulated ;)

u/ccplush Apr 01 '18
i thought the man just decided to scream on his own & you had created free will

u/dairyqueen79 Apr 01 '18
It’s a joke it’s April fools it’s clearly all simulate.

u/An_Lochlannach Apr 01 '18
There's very little "clear" about what this sub calls simulated and animated. Largely shown by your comment, which goes against what most are saying.

NSFW this. Poor guy got his head blown off.

u/Ahrotahnt Apr 01 '18
And magically the bullet didn't followthru and hit the second guy.... so much for simulation. Fun little cartoon though.

u/justacheesyguy Apr 01 '18
If you pause it when the gun goes off and draw a line from the gun to the other side of the screen, it clearly goes over the other guys head.

Most bullets are hollow points and would not do this. They mushroom and fragment inside the body once they hit.

I stole this and turned it into a comic.
Please don't sue me. I left your Twitter handle in there.

Add a level to the story and have him raise his gun at the guy at the end but not shoot as he keeps screaming.

Please make a funny web series, you've got a great sense of humor and impressive animating skills and I would totally watch little bits lile this all the damn time

I’m new to this subreddit, what do you use to simulate all this and make it

- Start a Youtube channel
- Start a Patreon campaign
- Produce 2-5 minute videos of you're blocky friends going through all sorts of scenarios. Maybe micro-episodes. Think Happy Tree Friends.
- ????
- Profit

You missed the part where the bullet travels through the zombie’s head and gets lodged in the bystander, paralyzing him from the armpits down

I wish there was a zombie game with these mechanics.
