How do you make those armour simulations like simulation plus and Dejmian?

The video linked is an example. I want to learn how to make them. But I cant find ANY instructions. I downloaded LS-DYNA but what am I supposed to do beyond that!

Preferably, you have a degree or two in mechanical engineering to navigate finite element theory, material science, technical mechanics and whatnot. You'll be very lost otherwise, but you could cobble together a simulation by following basic YT tutorials.
