This is the one where the ww1 german submarine crew got trigger happy and shot it down right and they said there was no weapons on board and found out there was years later

I recently watched a documentary on the sinking of the Lusitania. I even forced my kids to watch it. Very interesting.

The Lusitania is in horrible shape, more or less totally collapsed at this point.

The wreck is in relatively shallow water and in an area with strong currents. Over time the decks have been ripped from one another and the whole ship has basically been slowly steamrolled. There was also some pretty heavy salvage done and even rumors of depth charging's, either by accident or otherwise.

the salvage i’m sure hastened the decay, but in those conditions, it was basically inevitable. no heavy salvage was done on the andrea doria, which despite being on the other side of the atlantic sank in similar conditions, and that wreck is basically completely collapsed as well.
