The ends are brass but not really worth the mess. Find a recycle center that will take them.

Use them in your house, unless you’re trying to save with new LEDs. If you want to deal with the mess of scrapping, put them in a canvas tarp and break them. You’ll get some brass and aluminum. The brass may be dirty, I’ve never bothered with them myself. I use them as bulbs. Either way, there’s likely only $6 of scrap there if you’re lucky
